Hi just curious to see if any one else keeps reptiles? we have a fair amount and i am not sure if i will be able to handle my reptiles, even though i wash my hands after touching them or doing anything else with them all.

we have a bearded dragon (well my 10 year old does) and so far the only contact i have had with it since i got my bfp is it sits on my shoulder while my OH and 10yr old clean it out, other than that i don't have much to do with it, as for handling it i think it should be fine as long as you make sure your hands are thoroughly washed after you handle it xx

I usually use a anti-bacterial hand wash after touching them all. The OH last night said he will just deal with the snakes, gecko's and spiders till i have the baby.
I wont miss dealing with spiders though

no i won't miss the crickets escaping when my lad tries to get the bd out without help lol
my friend is terrified of spiders and her sons dad went and bought him a tarantula for xmas so she is having to help him with that and try to keep her 2yr old off of it at same time i don't envy her in the slightest.

I have a bearded dragon and a leopard gecko :)

I kiss my reps all the time - they are my babies afterall - and i have never ever been sick.

I sometimes wonder if i have developed immunity in the same way the people do to poisons by having small doses frequently

When i get pregnant i'll make an effort to wash my hands and not kiss them, but i'll still handle them and clean them out.

You are all very brave. My sister breeds corn snakes and they freak me right out...... *shudder*

 you will hate my house we have Corns snakes x 8 plus 18 hatching now lol, 2 royal pythons, 3 burmese pythons, 2 garters snakes. 2 Boa's, 5 gecko's and 3 Trantulars at the moment, but we will not be keeping the baby corns i am running out of room now lol.

That collection don't end there lol we also own 2 dogs, a cat and a rabbit haha, so its a bit of a zoo in here

But i could not give my hobby up i love them all. :)

Yess!!!
Me and the OH used to breed Beardies, having up to 103 at a time, and we've had a huuuge assortment of other reptiles too!

We've had:

Beardies
Chameleons
Royal Python
Corn Snake
B&W Columbian Tegu

And I'm sure there's been more but I can't think :hmm:

So yeah... I'm a mad reptile keeper!

If you lived closer to me i might of able to tempt you into a snow corn baby lol they are all just started hatching over the last few days lol.

My sister keeps the snakes plus tropical birds, gerbils and a dog.

I have a cat and there are a few frogs in the garden.

My sis's o/h made a glass top coffee table that the snakes can live in so you can see them thru the table when you set your cup on it. :oooo:

Ohh don't, we're not allowed any more pets, and snow corns are gorgeous! Lucky you!

Have you tried the RFUK forum for ID-ing your snake?

Right now we only have our disabled Beardie, Rocky, and our B&W Columbian Tegu, Indie, along with the cat and the rat.

We had to give up a lot our our collection when we moved :'(
I was looked at Frilled Lixards today, they're lovely, and Chinese Water Dragons <3 <3 <3

I love the coffee table idea, but it sounds complicated!

It was heartbreaking, but it had to be done.
We made sure we knew the people who have them though!

We had a chameleon, but gave him away when i got pregnant - we needed his room for the Nursery! x

Erm I have a tortoise :s haha compared to all your snakes and stuff that's really quite pathetic lol! X

Oh, my mum has a leopard (i think) tort and he is a huge thing - he walks around like a tank, picks up speeds and crashes through things

I think they're a bit more hardcore than most - take some looking after :)

Ive got a horsfield tortoise but some of your collections sound awesome! We own more of the fluffy variety of animal rather than reptiles. We have the two dogs, two hamsters, the rabbit, the tortoise and up until a month ago our ratty, who very sadly died :( xxx

DH has just informed me that i will definately be getting my royal python for my birthday next month, to add to the rats, dogs and my sons beardie.:dance::)
