I think the last update people got after my induction was this:

"05:40 Started getting crampy around 9pm, by half ten it had turned into mild contractions. At 3am they were fairly regular, every 5 minutes or so but not so painful that I needed pain relief yet. Tried to sleep for a few hours. 5am, starting to get quite painful now so ask for some paracetamol. Contractions are every few minutes. Now sitting bouncing on a ball, don't think there will be much more progression just now based on mw's assessment still could be quite a while

17:40 Getting there slowly but surely, just had another VE and the midwife could feels baby's head but didn't say how dilated I am. Prostglandin gel inserted, back on the monitor again but should be able to get up and walk about in an hour. Such a long process! Will let you know if anything else happens xx"

Well Alyssa Marie was born at ten past 2 in the afternoon on Sunday 12th by emergency section! I was induced on Thursday 9th, early labour was fairly drawn out, was finally established labour at 10pm on Saturday night. DH tells me my contractions were coming every minute and lasting a minute so I was getting very little relief whatsoever, at 6am on Sunday I asked for the epidural cos I wasn't able to last much longer. I don't remember much of this mind you, diamorphine made me so loopy! I think a combination of the morphine, the gas and air, and the lack or sleep was the reason for my many weird and wonderful hallucinations, such as being convinced I was cycling in a race with Chris Hoy!! The epidural was magnificent though, didn't feel a thing going in, and felt almost instant relief. Could still feel the contractions but so much more in control, and was able to sleep at last. At 12pm though, they realised I wasn't getting passed 6cm and decided to do an emergency c-section as her heartrate was dropping. Epidural was topped up and we went to theatre. Then we had our little girl and I'm still amazed she's ours!! She was 7lb13. Unfortunately she didn't take to breastfeeding, so she's 100% formula fed. Disappointing, but it wasn't fair her getting so upset and frustrated. She's feeding really well by the bottle and sleeps like a log! She's so content it's unbelievable. Laid back like her daddy!!

We got home today and I'm feeling remarkably good considering I had a section. I'm walking fine and able to look after Alyssa independently. DH back to work on Monday so just as well! Will be taking it easy but happy with my progress so far :) xxx

Well done honey. Sounds a bit traumatic. You did so well. X

Congratulations hun x and well done! After all that SPD recovering from a c-section will be a breeze for you!

Morphine is divine stuff when your suffering, doesn't stop the pain, just stops you caring about it :D

wow what a long process. Sorry u ended up with a c section after all that, seems crazy seeing as u were offered one previously then they retracted it. I found the recovery from the op not too bad, think I struggled more down the line cos I was trying to do too much and got an infection. So although u are on ur own from monday remember to take it easy and take all the help u get offered, even if it is to just have a shower or a nap lol xx

Congratulations hun!! U sound like ur recovering brilliantly xx
