advise on buying cot mattress

really could do with some helping on buying a mattress for a cotbed so many to choose from
was looking at sprung mattresses but wondered what else too look for? and if anyone would recommend a type of mattress? or one to avoid
really would like one that will last for when it changes to a bed

I can't remember exactly what mattress i got Lacey as it was 4 years ago but it was the most expensive one that mothercare did at the time, it was £100 and is designed to help prevent cot death etc... I wanted an expensive one just so i was more resured that she was safe!
