Cot mattress

What's the best type of mattress for a cot?
Have to get one asap because Eliot already too big for Moses!!

Hey hun when we was looking it was so confusing and some of them are soooo expensive!

I spoke to the healthvisitor and she said as long as it met standards it didn't matter what type....basically she said baby won't know or mind if it has springs or memory foam or any of the other flash stuff...she said thats all advertising crap to get you to pay more! which I suppose is true if ya think about it lol

We went for a mid range price (about £60) and made sure it had a changeable cover! Got ours from kiddicare!

The other thing I didn't realise (and maybe this is me just being thick) is that cots come in different sizes so need to check the mattress size....I thought they were all a standard size lol

No proba hun....id have prob gone for the most expensive otherwise thinking it was the best when really they wack a load of extra cost onto things as they know new mummies will pay!

Kiddicare was good and much cheaper than mothercare and the like! I also found mothercare mattress's really confusing.....not that it takes much xx

Ours has a changeable cover, too - definitely recommend that! We also got a couple of spares (you can buy waterproof mattress protectors on ebay) as Poppy is sometimes sick when we lay her down. I think ours cost £120 but we have a cot bed so we wanted it to last her until she's a toddler. x

Don't you just wish sometimes that there was just one version of everything? I find the oodles of options out there for everything sooo confusing. My poor mind! I remember years ago Billy Connolly saying how he just wanted a bottle of shampoo and how there was too much choice - was really funny and I agree!!

Totally agree! When I was pregnant with Poppy and baby shopping with my Mum, she said "Blimey, I can't believe how much stuff you can get for babies! When you were little it was a cot, bottles and a bouncer, and that's all you needed!"

It's mad the stuff avaliable for babies now. They really have cashed in on evey concept. Loads more than when I had my son 11 years ago.

Georgie has just grown out of her crib so we have just bought her a cotbed matteress - gotta say I am really pleased with it. We got it from an ebay shop and it was just £45 - I had looked at a simliar one in mothercare for well over £100
