Adoption and more....

Hello Everyone

Its been a long time, life has treated me well and just been enjoying it whilst I can. I have lost 2 stone in weight since dieting and we have both decided to go to our first Adoption opening evening on 9th July, since putting this off for the last year.

We have decided we are finally ready to become parents....even if we can't have them naturally

I hope everyone is doing well, hopefully will be able to find the time to pop on from time to time on here and give you all updates on our progress.

Is there anyone is going down the Adoption route?

One of my good friends adopted a 9mt old little boy and they are so happy! He's adorable and although it's been hard as being a parent is, it's all been worth it!

Ooh let us know how it goes! We'd adopt if IVF doesn't work and I'm adopted myself so would be happy to answer any questions about what its like to be an adopted child! Lots of luck!

Congratulations on losing weight and congratulations on making Adoption an option! Having known I've had PCOS for around 8 years I've always considered adoption as a possible route but my husband can't see it in his future (yet).

Hope your road isn't too bumpy and you end up with the family you want and deserve!

Hi BabyLover - my hubby and I are currently going through the adoption process, currently on stage 2 and hope to be approved by Sept. I've so far found the process really good. If you've got any questions feel free to ask. It really is exciting and I think you need to wait between last treatment and adopting like you have. Because as amazing as adoption is you still need to grieve for the baby you won't have yourself. I'm now in the position where I wouldn't change a thing, even if someone offered me a wonder drug to solve my infertility I think if still choose the adoption route. I love my child so much already, I just haven't met them yet Good luck with your journey x x

I'm really interested to hear everyone's experience with adoption. We have a 2 and a half year old and being able to have our own second child isn't looking terribly promising due to our ages. We've given ourselves til the new year for that but have also decided we would definitely consider adoption.

My best friend and another friend are adopted and they have had such good experiences.

My OH's cousin has 2 adopted children and sadly has had a nightmare with one child.

So I'm fairly objective about it ! But I worry that we won't meet the criteria at all on paper but we have huge amounts of love and time to give another child.

So please do share if you can !

Hi Cazza, have you checked criteria in your local area? You'll find it's much more relaxed now, even more so than it was last year. You can adopt if you're single, unemployed, in a gay relationship etc. If you have a 2 and half year old they won't let u adopt an older child, I think they need to be at least a year younger. If you're interested you can go along to an open day for more info and apply when you're ready.

Best of luck..... I think we may be headed down this route if we don't have a natural miracle by end of year. We need to wait a year after our IVF treatment before we can start the process, so taking some time out and will see what 2015 brings. Would love to keep up to date with your progress.
