Please can I pick your brains for ideas of fun games and activities I can do with my 2 and a half year old DS in the house? He has chickenpox so we can't go out anywhere, and I've exhausted the usual drawing, painting, reading and baking that we do!

Would be so grateful of any ideas of things you enjoy doing with your own toddlers at home? Xx

ETA- he's not at all poorly with it, just spotty, so it's not like I'm dragging him out of bed to do stuff, he keeps telling me he's bored haha xx

If he's not poorly, could you not take him out for a walk where he won't necessarily come into physical contact with others? My LO loves getting out for walks even when poorly.

Generally if he's not well I take him up to my mum's. We end up doing the same as we would at home, but the different environment and company seems to perk him up, plus I don't feel like I'm climbing the walls either!

Potatoe printing.
Paper mache with ballons
Pom pom making
Pin tail on donkey

Have a google at masking tape car tracks- my son loves this and it keeps him entertained for ages!

Messy play always keeps harper entertained. Cornflour and water, dried pasta/rice, bowl of water with spoons etc to splash. My house gets very messy but it keeps harper occupied for ages x

Get the (safe) contents of the store cupboard out and play shops.

Get him to help with chores - James loves loading washing machine

Hide and seek, puzzles, lego

Walks

Google 'nursery activities for 2 year olds' - I reckon that will provide a few more ideas

That's brilliant thanks ladies, got a good few ideas to keep us going now :) I just couldn't think of anything except the usual stuff we do, I'm not very imaginative when it comes to kids play, but will definitely try a few of them out Thankyou xxx

Dens! My kids LOVE putting a sheet over the dining chairs and playing in there - with a torch if you have one!

all the kids in my house like to play 'go find a.......' and depending on their stage of development is what I ask them to find! for examples, find something red, something soft, something hard, something square etc - depending if they know colours, shapes etc. they will keep going with this one for ages! and love running back to me with what they have found in the play room to match what I asked for :)

we also do indoor obstacle courses, with a pop up tunnel, pop up tent, ride on toy and coloured floor spots etc.

If his spots have scabbed over he is able to go out and about now. Chicken pox is more contagious before the spots even come out and while they are pussy, once scabbed over they are classed as ok to return to normal activity/childcare etc. :)

The best activities for kids to keep them busy at home like play dough, building blocks, shades of color coloring the construction paper or coloring pages like cartoons, animals, vehicles etc, finger paintings, make letter with play dough, make glitter slim. I am sure that kids will have lot of fun by engaging them in doing this activities.

From the above activities my LO would love doing finger paintings, coloring pages most of the time. For coloring I download sheets from different sites through online and take the print of pages. Here is the monster high coloring pages which I have downloaded recently for my LO.

Once he completes coloring those sheets I make the wall frame of that and keep it in his room.
