No wonder she isn't settling. Poor girl is in a sauna.

I'm ticked off as i've spent all day trying to keep the kids bedrooms cool but they've only got hotter :-( It is going to be a long long long night.

I've got damp muslins in fridge, some flannels in freezer and some ice in front of the fans.

Phone app is saying 33c. Gonna see what gro-egg is saying!!

Its been a bloody long day, dreading tonight.

X

We've got a fan near her with a wet towel next to the fan, so not sure if she is hot or cold. Monitor says 30c though :-(

Yes we've had 30/32 today also, luckily we have air conditioner running in nursery with door closed, been running all day and night and just maintaining 22 during the day and getting to 19 at 4am! Think today is the peak though with thunderstorms tomoz, only one night to get through...we've also put film on the windows that deflects the heat (like sunglasses for windows...) so think thats helped but its been unbearable today!

Yikes!

We can't afford an air conditioner :-( Otherwise i'd absolutely buy one! It has been a real challenge today and can't wait for the monitor to stop reading 30c! Even 26c at this stage would be good!

I love warm weather but with children it's really unbearable :-(

Wondering what everyone is dressing little ones in at bedtime in this heat?

It's ridiculously hot in our house. Monitor reading 31 right now. DS is not doing too bad at the minute. He's just in his nappy and a 1 tog bag which is pretty much like a sheet. He is such a wriggler his legs have to be in something or they end up lodged between the bars of his cot otherwise he may well just be in a nappy. Am worried that he will be cold in the night but if he is ill just put a vest on him which is what he was dressed in last night + the 1 tog bag and he was ok. Always worry about his little arms getting cold but I very much doubt that tonight! It's gonna be a long one (me and OH are useless sleeping in this heat anyway...yawn!)

My little girl has been in bed since 7.45 and has woken crying once already! Her room temp is reading 30 :-/ but we live in a bungalow so can't keep her window open all night

Arr so difficult in this heat. I have lo in a strappy vest and will put a sheet over her... Just hoping her arm don't get cold but just feels too hot at the moment to put her in a short sleeved vest

Last night i just put my LO in a vest & i popped a blanket over the top of his basket but he kicked that right off so i assume he was too warm?! I don't like the idea of just putting him to bed in just his nappy though & i couldn't tell you why i feel like that. I have sleeping bags which i can now pop him into but i don't know what tog they are :/ bet i'm sounding like a really good mom now lol

29 in my bedroom (after opening all the windows fully), baby isn't up there yet but he's in a short-sleeved bodysuit and no cover.

28.5 in nursery last check and that's with doing everything all day as you all have to keep it cool! Read that letting a big frozen bottle of water in their room might help as it defrost over night so have one in freezer for tomorrow.

Agreed it's a very long day when it's like this. Lo got a prickly heat rash today and it's just so stressful. Gave him a luke warm bath at lunch time! Tonight he's in just a nappy and we'll zip 1 tog bag before we go to sleep but wondering if just a vest would be better? It was 23 in there first thing this morning so not really worried it'll get too cold!

Glad I am not the only one worried about this.

I have put LO in sleepsuit and that it. We are at 27 but that os as high as thermometer goes. Just worried she will not be ok come early hours!! But guess she will wake if too cold? Can anyone back this up? Cant relax

Yeah they say they are more likely to wake from being cold than warm. With the heat a sleepsuit will be more than enough (try a vest maybe) in my opinion even for early hours. I doubt temp will drop so much it would get too chilly.

I'd put her in a vest, flosi...sleep suit might be a little too much for this weather?

My boy is struggling with the heat so bad. He is a hot baby anyways but he will not sleep without a blanket :/. I tried a sheet but he got tangled and screamed so gave him a really thin blanket and he was soundo in seconds. It's knocking him out tho I swear as not a peep out of him and he is a restless sleeper and I still do a few dummy runs but this is the second night of nothing. Shouldn't complain I know lol. Went in to steal it but he has it all tucked under him. Monitor says 27 in there xxx

I'm never a fan of hot weather but especially not at the minute! We gave up trying to make our room cooler for Maggie and moved to a bedroom downstairs (we have s sort of upside down house living area upstairs but bedrooms are a mixture of upstairs and down). We want from a 27degree room to 21degree which ilubdtantky felt better for us all!

Now if I could just get OH to stop snoring!

Oh and was impressive storm around midnight!

Wow reading this thread I'm feeling so lucky, our home must be some sort of cool box, it was red hot outside yesterday but lovely and cool in the house. Just after lunch our gro egg red 23 but that's the highest it got inside. At night it was 21.8 So Lo wore a vest and sleepsuit. I would be having a massive worry session of the temp got up to 30, I don't think I would sleep properly, hope you all get some relief today I've heard it's not going to be "quite" as warm

Ah the heat totally messed with George's routine last night. 27 in our room only went down to 25 in the night with a fan on.
Here's hoping for a storm today to clear the air.
I used to be such a sun/heat worshipper, oh how babies change things! X
