So yesterday was my 2nd appointment at the hospital, I ended up seeing the lead fertility nurse who was really nice.

She said my 21 bloods showed I never ovulated ..... which I already knew as the tests showed I ovulated on cd24 instead.

Now here is where I was a bit naughty, I decided not to tell her about the positive opk as I didnt know if she would write me out another prescription if she knew

She told me to up my dosage to 100mg but didnt give me another prescription of drugs to induce a period (should I need it) instead she said that I will just have to wait for it to arrive on its own but she did say I would have follicle tracking scans instead which I wasnt offered on my first cycle

So my question is now do I up my dosage if we dont get lucky this cycle or should I stay on the lower dosage knowing that it possibly did work??

My method of thinking is that if I do up my dosage and it accidentally over stimulates my ovaries to much this would be detected in the scan and they can warn me, so is there any harm in upping it just in case the 50mg didnt work properly ?

What do you think ?

Im not sure Vicky! I don't really have any experience, but as you say, if you get too overstimulated, they will probably detect it, so can't harm I guess? ;)

Yeah that's what I was thinking, would be different if I wasn't having the scans so it should be ok, really hoping I won't even need a second cycle xx

umm tricky one?

I would tell her about the positive opk and that you ovulated late. You could try the 50mg and if that doesn't produce the result your after then up to the 100mg.

think it's important to tell the fertility doctors everything just in case xx

I think you haven't done enough reading on the risks of clomid to be prescribing your own dosage ;)

Did you know that too much clomid can prevent pregnancy by making your cervical mucus too hostile - so even if you have 100 eggs waiting inside all the sperms will be dead

Also it causes cervical cancer.

The idea is to take just enough to trigger ovulation or the risk factor start kicking in with you being sensitive to the drug.

I think that being dishonest will pay off though :)

I would keep on taking the 50mg and palming the extra 50mg. Then if next cycle you ovulate again, which will show on the follicle scans and progesterone bloods, then great - just carry on with the 50mg and if they ever decide you've had enough clomid you will have some saved.

If next cycle you don't ovulate again, it's the gamble, then you can up your dosage to the 100mg.

If you think that you do want to take the 100mg right away, just please inform the consultant about the positive OPK first. Chances are she will tell you to take the 50mg instead. Don't jump right into 100mg without the doctors blessing.

At the end of the day if you decide you want to come clean next cycle, you can do if you stuck to the 50mg :)

Don't throw away your chance for one baby because you got greedy chasing twins.

Errrrr thanks Lou ..... I think!! :shock::shock::shock::shock:

Lol I know its because you care so much :flower:

I am scarily aware of the risks involved in taking clomid, despite comments I have made in the past about how fab it would be to have twins I am not prepared to risk my health so you don't need to worry hun ;-)

But you are right self diagnoses isn't the smartest move, I have to go to the hospital when af arrives for a blood test before starting my next cycle so I will drop in and speak to my nurse see what she advises.

Fingers crossed i won't even need it xxxxxxx

Yeah good call with speaking to someone if you want to up your dose :) I don't think you'll have much trouble from now on though :good:
