Hello all,
Was wondering if those of you who have already had antenatal checks around 16 weeks will be able to advise me?
I'm due for my 16 week check next week, and instead of seeing a midwife, it'll be with a nurse from my surgery (and possibly a GP too). I was wondering what's usually involved in these checks? The reason I ask is because my GP practice doesn't really seem to have a clue when it comes to antenatal care; at first they told me that all my checks would be with my midwife, but when my MW told me that I should be seeing the GP at 16 weeks, the GP still told me to speak to the MW. In the end, it was the MW who had to make the appt for me, and I don't know why, but the surgery has made an appt for me with the nurse. Hence, getting a tad apprehensive about the antenatal care I'll be receiving from the surgery. My MW says that they should be measuring my blood pressure and testing my urine. Do they normally listen to the baby's heartbeat as well at this stage? (BTW, this is happening again at 22 weeks too, the next time I get to see the MW won't be til 28 weeks!) Just wanted to be prepared so that I can ask for whatever they might omit to do.
Thanks in advance.
