Is there such thing!??! ... ever since my little boy has his 1 year jabs. sleep has gone out the window!!

Im talking, im having to get up 3 hourly to settle him back to sleep, usually with a bottle every time!

Hes screaming right now, its 9.40pm and its the 2nd time ive tried putting him to bed since 7pm.

He's become extremely reliant on bottle to get back to sleep, although he has his comfort blanket. He's always woke for one feed, but hes even waking at 6 am, not wanting to get up, wanting a bottle to go back to sleep. last night he eventually went to sleep at 9.30pm, woke at 12.30, 2.30 5.45 then up at 8.

HELP!?! Do I go cold turkey? to a certain extent as I don't like to do controlled crying for too long.

But im sure now when I go in, after hes been crying for so long, he feels like hes getting what he wants?!..

I don't know if there's technically a leap or whatever but I do remember my lo's sleep going to the dogs at around 12 months as it was just as I went back to work. Nightmare! All my friends said their lo's were the same at that age so I think it must be a thing. We didn't really do much, just gave a bottle occasionally to get him back down. And walked about shattered 😞 by 15 months he was sleeping through xx

Yes! my daughter had one around then and she just had another at 18 months which was also a bloody nightmare! We had to do controlled crying I am afraid, I tried appeasing her for the first few nights but after 4 nights of her waking repeatedly all night long and still getting up at 6am every day I was exhausted. After a few days of controlled crying we gradually got back to sleeping through the night. The first time she cried on a night I would go in her room give her a hug and check she was ok, put her back down and say night night and then if she started a second time I would go in her room lay her back down tell her it was sleepy time and close the door. She would cry for 15 -20 mins but I refused to go back in the room and she went to sleep as she realised I was not getting her out of bed. Gradually every night the crying reduced more and more until she started sleeping through again.

I think it is important to go and check on them when they start crying as they need to know they have not been abandoned and you need to make sure they are not crying for any legitimate needs but once you have established they are perfectly fine and safe then I don't see a problem with leaving them to cry if they start again.

Good luck with it hun, hope it resolves itself soon x

How long ago were his jabs? If it was within the last week, he might still be poorly from them. Also in this heat he might be unsettled and thirsty. If he is wanting a bottle, could you perhaps leave a non spill beaker of water in his bed for him? This is what we do with our LO at night so he doesn't wake us for a drink. Do you think he could be teething?

I'll be honest I don't remember specifically having trouble with my eldest waking around the year mark. But in general any time his sleep went to shit it coincided with him teething or being poorly.

Thanks everyone, I think it could well be a mixture of everything!!
I know hes been having his molars trying to push through for a while, so he had nurofen and anbesol, didn't want milk, water etc.. no wind. In the end took him downstairs, started again and he fell asleep me cuddling him. oops!

he woke once at 12am, gave him bottle, he only had a drop and went to sleep.

Then 2am rolled round.. all he wanted was me, no bottle, water, teeth, nappy.. nope. cuddles with mummy. Which I feel terrible about but I can not be waking every 2 hours to cuddle him back to sleep!

So we left him, I kept going in every now and again to lay him back down, took a good hour!

but then he slept through till 7.30am thank god!

looking forward to what tonight brings zzzzzzzz
