im just wondering what you all thought about leaving kids alone. In the light of the Gerry and kate poll i set up the other day :)

so would you leave your kids alone like kate and Gerry McCann and go for a meal checking on them every now and then?

Never.
Its literally a minutes walk to the shop at the end of my street but i wouldnt dream of leaving Thea in the house and going there. There have been times when i've sat for an hour waiting for her to wake up so we can pop to the shop for some milk for a cuppa. Its just not worth the risk.

whos put yes they have left them then ??????????

i clicked number 3

i have left Harley once and i hated every min of it and paniked!

i left him for about 4 mins

we were in devon on a caravan site mine andc mums van were next to each other - Harley was fast asleep in the cot mum made me a fry up
so i left the door to my van open went round to my mums sat by the door and watched my van and could hear every thing
but if some one went throuh the back window i would have never known
:( cant believe i took the risk but some times i think holiday sites make you feel a bit relaxed

i have no problem with cleaning my car at the front of my house while the kids play in the front room or are asleep in bed

and i have never used baby monitirs with Harley

with Dior thoguh i used to record her in bed so i could switch the tv over and see her

No way, not ever, Hopes never going to get left in this house alone :x

Nope. never would, wouldn't dream of it.

My Mum & Dad were on holiday in Tunisia when my brother was about 14 months old adn left in the locked room while they had dinner, they checked on him every 10 mins and were wlaking back to the room afterwards to find the maid carrying him down the corridor, she claimed he had been crying & she was coming to find them.... She had never met them before. That story scared the wotzits out of me

No, never. It's not something I could do.

The shop by me is only 2mins away from me an I can see my house all the way to the shop but I always take Nathan with me. I'd rather spend 5mins putting Nathan in his pushchair knowing he's safe with me than risk something happening to him in those few mins I was in the shop.

ive left nathan to go around my neighbours garden, wash the car outside, speak to someone up the road, left him in the car if hes asleep. to be honest i have thought twice about it since the whole madeline thing, but then im soo angry that i have to think twice about it i shouldnt have to.
like the mc canns pointed out some people have gardens that are the same distance or futher away than they were, is it wrong to go and hang your washing out in that case???
i think it depends on where you live too. if you live in a rough area then i would feel less safe, as opposed to living in the country.
i hate that they have been critisized for their decision, i think its true that people get all self righteous about it in the hope that it will never happen to them, pathetic.
the people that took her had already "chose" her they were in the wrong, END OF in my opinion.

I put yes. In a hotel. Jess was a twelve hour sleeper and she was one. It would never have occured to me that someone would break in and steal her. It would now though. I am very cautious about my doors.

I dont condone leaving kids but in that place at that time I felt safe enough to leave her, checking her every 15 mins.

When I was younger my parents would always leave me in the hotel bedroom on my own whilst they would go have a drink in the bar, they used to tell me that there was a camera in the tv watching me so they would know if I got out of bed and Id be in trouble witht them

It worked tho.. I was so bloody scared of the tv watching me lol.

Id never do that with Scarlett tho, ever.

BTW: Dionne I really wouldnt beat urself up over leaving Harley then as I dont even think that counts as leaving him at all, it doesn't even sound remotely risky.. u were right by the door!
