How do you ladies fit it all in? I work 7-5 Monday to Friday and there is ZERO way I am going to be able to get days off. How do I go about making sure all scans and appointments are going to be met when I can really only go in the half term holidays or weekends? Does anyone else have this problem? I really don't want to tell them until I am about 12 weeks along or more for several reasons so that isn't an option for me. What should I do?

Your work have to by law give you the time off for antenatal appointments . This obviously means disclosing your pregnancy to them which really is the best option even if you are worried about it being too early
They can support you then.
There isnt really another way around it other than lying to them

I agree work has to allow you out for appointments when you need. X

Thanks ladies, okay I guess I might have to tell them sooner than I was hoping to. There's so many reasons why I don't want to (not just having had a CP last month) but there will just be no way round it I guess. They are always really negative about someone currently on maternity leave and how much 'trouble' she is causing which is horrid and I have a verbal contract for more responsibility in my job next year which I am hoping won't change when I tell them seeing as it was only verbal.

That is so awful that they are like that!

Sorry you dont feel supported xx

I'm sorry you don't feel supported. They are legally obliged to give you time off and support you but I know that lots of places don't do these things as they should. I have had lots of support at work as I also needed to disclose early. I hope they support you better than your colleague.

Hi,
I’ve been in similar position to you, you can generally get appts at the weekend if you book in advance. Booked mine so far for either 5:00pm (will say i have a docs appointment and leave work early) rest are anytime on a Sat.

Best of luck xx

Yeah, it's a bit rubbish really but I have prepared myself that they may well be that way. I may get lucky and they are happy about it but I doubt it to be honest.

Oh really Firecracker? I didn't realise that you could get some appointments on the weekend. That makes things a bit easier if I can do that. The docs are open til 6pm but I just need to be super pushy to get a late appointment but I will only see the doc once or twice I gather the rest will be the midwife.

You could always go home "sick" or just take day off (either annual or sick leave) to go to that first appointment. If you're using sick leave to see a doctor I don't think that's inappropriate, the doc would write you a note saying you went there so you'd be fine. I realise that's not the most honest option but if they're that unsupportive I'd be inclined to hide it for the first few weeks too.
