Wife had first scan yesterday with follow up meet with consultant today

oh hunni fingers crossed they sort themselves out and get back to you with results. and that you get a scan sooner than that x x x

Hi I have looked after several babies born with cystic hygroma and it totally depends on the size of it and whether any of the big blood vessels are attached. Some do extremely well and go home after some time in hospital and I have recently had a baby with a large one that they thought would be very big and it was but he went home a few weeks later with out it being removed. He is now 6months old and about to have it removed so it really does depends on how everything develops over the next few months x

im glad the initial results were fne..im sure your wife and baby will have the best possible care to detect or treat any problems.its always worrying when things dont seem to be going well but keep your hopes up babies tend to be pretty resilient xx

We are still waiting for the final result from the CVS testing on 18 Apr.

You poor things having to wait all this time. I know from experience that waiting and the uncertainity is the worst part. Can you contact the consultant to find out how much longer the results will take?

Wishing you good luck

We did ask the consultant today, but they still got nothing.
We can do nothing now, just waiting.

wishing you lots of luck for when you get the full results. Try to stay positive. x

You are in the best care at Great Ormond Street, it must be hard having to wait, but whatever the outcome, the professionals there are amazing and will help any and every way they can xx

We popped into see the consultant on Friday evening and she'd still not had result. The consultant has been superb and patient with us as I personally feel really bad to chase her up as I know she is very busy. However, we just need to wait for the full results as she expained they are growing the cells and can take a little longer than normal. I just hope the results come back good.

The final CVS result came back as normal. We went to Great Ormond Street hospital for a fetal cardiac scan where they looked in detail at the baby's heart. This came back normal as well.
Today is exactly 20 weeks into the pregnancy and we went back to our hospital for a scan. The baby's structure looks good, but the NT measurement which was 6mm during our last visit has gone up slightly to 6.6mm now.
Everything looks good but the NT is still at high level, has anyone come across a case where the NT is high but CVS and fetal heart scan came back as normal?

oh hunni am really happy for you hun, at least baby is a sticky and healthy thats great news hun x x x

great news!!! Sorry dont know about the NT. X

Not sure what it signifies but I know how hard it is to go through all that

We have had 5 scans now and not one has been good news :( First was a high NF measurement, second was a heart problem third was showing fluid on the brain and then 2 more scans confirmed the heart and fluid issues
We opted for amnio in the end and came back positive for Downs Syndrome
Still getting our heads round it
At least we know what the problem is now and can prepare, it's horrid having the not knowing aspect in pregnancy so I really feel for you and the wife
Hope they manage to find out the problem; however I have heard of high NF measurements turning out with a fine healthy baby
So fingers crossed! x

We had a very similar experience had the CVS, clear and heart scan etc. I think they told us there was no point measuring NT after 14 (?) weeks as it doesn't show an issue after that time! Not a day goes by when OH and I look at my 5 month old chunk, Tyler wondering how he put us through so much worry! Enjoy the rest of your OHs pregnancy!

Hope everything's ok for u good luck to u and ur wife xxx
