We're looking at buying an Avent one but are the electric or microwave ones best? Which is more convenient? Does the microwave one keep the bottles sterile for longer? (On ebay it said 24 hours if unopened for the microwave one but only 3 hours for the electric one...?)

Thanks! xx

We didn't want an electric one taking up all that surface space so we've gone for the Tommee Tippee one because you can use it for microwave or cold water sterilising. I wasn't sure about the cold water sterilising before - all those chemicals :( So I researched it and it's the same stuff that's in water purifying tablets :) Now I think I might be more likely to cold water sterilise instead.

I just got one from Tesco which is for microwave or cold water sterilizing. I just keep it in the microwave to save space as we don't really use it for anything else.

microwave ones are brill , too ave the tommee tippee , comes with 3 bottles too !

Can I ask....are there any known 'risks' with microwave sterilising to do with the plastic being exposed to that kind of energy? I might be way off but vaguely remember something coming up about it a while back???

we go the tommee tippee microwave one with the free bottles, can be used as a cold water one as well

i have the tommee tippee microwave n cold water steriliser n i think its fab.
i use it in the microwave as the sterilising solution over time discolours and weakens teats and dummies.
the microwave one keeps things sterile, as long as its not opened, for 24 hours. i usually just seal up the bottles with the required amount of cooled boiled water and put them aside if i need to open it to use one.
good luck steriliser hunting!!

i got the avent electric one, it was £60 for breast pump, 6 bottles, soothers, feeding cups and the steriliser, tbh i hanvt really looked at it since i bought it so not sure how it works but it looked pretty simple to me

i've got the avent electric one - its great (v quick & easy) - but tbh, i use milton tablets in a washing up bowl the most!

I would recommend the tommee tippee steraliser for the microwave or cold water. It only cost £10 (on special from Asda) and came with a couple of bottles too. xxx
