Which day to start trying

Hi everyone Bit confussed.com by a few things....

Please please can u clear this up for me once and for all!!!

My doctor told me that its best to obstain from sex until the day u ov to maximise your chance, my sister in law however told me to just go for it everyday up to ov What does everyone else think? We BD everyday building up to ovulating last month just to go for it...and AF turned up..boo.

AF arrived yesterday and is my first cycle after MMC where i'm totally back to normal, 24 days and ovulating on day 11/12 so i'm quite pleased and excited to try properly this month, OPK's at the ready!

I used the ebay opk's cheapies last month and was a bit confussed as the line was only almost the same colour,so i tested the next day and it was even less. Was that it do u think? does any one else only get Nearly the same colour? and ov. My sister inlaw said these are better in a way than the clear blue digi as it tell u gradually when to try..

What i usually do is have sex 5 days before Ov and on the day and the day after to be sure. I have also "heard" everyother day during your cycle is good. Some people don't get a dark positive on OPKs. x
Also sorry to hear about your MMC i had one of those last month its not very nice x

I would say just try and bd atleast every other day through ur cycle and everyday leading up to ov

It's a tricky one really as there is logic to support both theories and i bet there are plenty of women that got pregnant from both methods.

Doing it once around OV makes sense because the egcm would be plentiful and concentrated and there will be a more favourable pH gradient to attract the sprem into the cervix.

Doing it every other day for several days either side of OV makes sense because the more times you do it the more opportunity to get more sperm inside waiting for the egg and you won't miss OV.

Sex every single day is supposed to reduce chance of conception.

I personally plan on doing it every other day for several days and that is mainly because i feel like i am doing something and covering all my bases.

Plus i will be stacking the odds by using pre-seed and a diaphragm to hold the semen near my cervix.

If it doesn't work out in a few months, i might try the other method.

As for OPKs - they measure hormone amount, but it is the surge and not necessarily the amount that indicates ovulation. A line darker than your normal lines is more important than it being darker than the control line.

Hey Xshauna, yes missed MC are terrible, i had never heard of them. Had u?

Mine was in May, so sorry to hear u has one recently too. My cycles were everywhere after and i have only just had my first normal one. It really isn't helping that everywhere i turn there are friends falling and trying..ahhhh!!! lol and now of course they all know we want a baby. I preferred it when know one knew.

But onwards and upwards!! OH has been brill, was ur's?

Very sorry to hear of your recent mc hope you are both doing ok.

When I mentioned using OPKs recently to our hospital consultant, he sternly said that we should bd regularly throughout the cycle, and not just during Ov

So do u go for everyother day? My friend recently fell and laughed when i mentioned having legs in air after.. lol. She just goes to sleep and she done ok!!!
