Just after some weening advice plz? Baby is nearly 19 weeks old and quite satisified on 5 7oz bottles! And sleeps thru night! Everything is going in his mouth and he watches us eat! Im really looking forward to weening, but if I did it now would I be doing it more for me than baby? Herb visitor just says leave until 6 month, but thought no harm in just a little bit for brekie or supper?! What do I ladies think? X

Herb visitor haha what's that?!! My phone changes words! Obv mean health visitor xx

I started just before 4 months but he became ill so stopped. Started again at 5 months/21 weeks and he's doing great! He's on 6/7 7oz bottles a day and 3 meals now and doing a mixture of tw/blw.
I started on 1 meal a day, breakfast and gave him muesli or porridge and gave it to him a hour after his 1st bottle.
They say wait until 6 months but if you think he's ready then try it! It's all trial and error to start with x x

I think there's no reason for weaning before 6 months, especially if he is satisfied with his bottles-he's getting everything he needs from there. I honestly and truly would wait. He watches you eating because he's fascinated with what you do. He'll watch you talking, walking, playing, stroking an animal, drinking, washing etc etc etc and he'll do all those things in his own time so until he's ready (really ready) I say wait. I thought Seb wouldn't be ready for ages because although lots of the 'signs' were there that he was ready he wasn't interested in the food. So we waited and now we're reaping the benefits of BLW.

If he is satisfied, I would wait, there is no reason to start until he is ready or reaches 6 months. X

I weaned my 3 kids at 4 months as back in the day that was when you were supposed to do it.

I am going to try BLW this time round , but am going to play things by ear on the 6 months date as the others were earlier, thought I would just see what Devon was needing nearer 6 months.

I really don't think that it harms babys at all , you can normally tell if they are really hungry etc and needing more, but can't say I enjoyed the puree stage from 4 months..

Really good to know Helen that it's working really well for you ....

It sounds fun to ween but really it's a bit of a pain if you ask me lol. So if he's happy on milk, I would wait til he's ready because once you start you'll need the patience of a saint and some mashing skills!

We're doing BLW and I'm just waiting for Lilly to show me when she's ready for food. I've tried her on various things just to see what tastes she likes but at the moment she has no interest in anything other than boobie, heh. I have been able to get her to suck on a bit of mango which she really enjoyed and she loves grabbing a bit of banana and then licking her fingers, lol. She doesn't really enjoy trying new foods at all so i'm waiting for a cue from her.

xxx

Thanks ladies for all your advice, will wait for now! X
