When To Start Buying Things

Justtrying I hate mum judgment. It's pointless and stupid. I'm jealous that you're so organised!

I'm so tempted to do the same. There was nothing worse than being 30plus weeks pregnant and rushing to get stuff done because I left it too late. I don't believe in superstition that you can make yourself lose your baby by buying early. With my DD I bought my pram and my in laws said it had to go at their house because it's bad luck to have it in mine until the baby came? What?

My opinion, however, everyone's different xx

No matter what you do you there will always be someone judging you.
If it wasn't for Xmas I would have started for sure with clothes etc as I have seen some lovely bits that will not be there when I do start due to season change x

Ive heard of that pram superstition before by an older woman lol. Yeah like you I dont believe in those superstitions either. How can it be bad when you are doing everything out of good intentions and excitement?

Theres only 1 thing I feel lazy about, HOSPITAL BAG! Just cannot be bothered.

I haven’t listened to pram superstition. Ours arrived 2 days after ordering it, I got it out, assembled it and it’s been up in baby’s room ever since. We did it with our first born as well. All my family are about 2.5 hours away, so storing it elsewhere wouldn’t be a sensible option.

I’m 35+3 and only just done the hospital bags. Just a few last minute bits to pick up. I had pre-eclampsia in my last pregnancy and ended up in hospital a week and a half ago with swelling and protein in my wee, so it spurred me to get it sorted just in case! Thankfully all ok so far.

We picked up a couple of sleepsuits etc. very early, then we bought our pram at 18 or 19 weeks because it was on such a good deal, and we've steadily bought pretty much everything else we need since then - now 25 weeks and only need a few little bits still. Partly it's because my partner is self-employed and has a more unpredictable income, partly to spread the cost, partly so we don't have to worry about going round testing prams and cots when I'm huge... partly because why wait?!

Nothing you buy is going to affect your baby's development either way, so seems overly pessimistic to wait :)

No pram superstition is rubbish. We're the mums, like we could do anything to harm our babies by buying things. MIL was so insistent though. She lost a baby at 9 months pregnant before she had OH so couldn't really argue about it.

I would say buy as soon as you feel comfortable. If you see a deal on something you want go ahead. You'll probably regret it if you don't and then end up buying the same thing, later, for more money. I waited until my 12 week scan last time and started buying things with DD. I had a mc at 9 weeks before her and had bought a few little things which was really hard afterwards. As soon as I've had my scan and all is well, I'll probably start getting what I see and like tbh
