I am half Irish (mum), a quarter Welsh and a quarter English. DH is 100% English. I'm just hoping Connie won't be as pale as I am.

My parents are welsh and my OH's are english and he was born in England, however he considers himself to be welsh as he lived in wales for most of his life. His sister joked that the baby would be english as will be born in London, my OH piped up that the baby will be welsh through and through! Not sure how this went down, I think they think I have brainwashed him

Interesting thread although ours is pretty boring really

Both hubby and I live within a 30 mile radius of where we, our parents and our grandparents were born. Although we plan as a family to emigrate to Australia within 5 years.

JP has some Portugese and Irish ancestry somewhere along the line, although not within the last 4 generations.

Callum and Caitlin are a 1/8
Irish as their Dad is 1/4 Irish.

Well my mum has done the digging on her side and dads side, so i seem to be pretty much 100% yorkshire/nottinghamshire background

OH is much the same we think Leicestershire/Nottinghamshire although his surname is of dutch origin so think there is a link there someway back

I am Scottish but I have a bit of irish blood and a very SMALL bit of italian. My mums great-grandfather was italian, so it is just a smidgen! Ewan is Scottish with some English blood. He was born in Ireland as his dad was in the army so he's lived all over the UK but he considers himself Scottish as he's lived here for 13 years.

What an interesting thread! We really are a multi cultural bunch - who can really say what 'British' is any more?

OH: he's English Caucasian

I'm Cornish (both grandmothers belonged to very old Cornish families) but one granddad was from Scottish descent and the other could have been Russian or Ukranian or Polish - no-one knows his real identity!

My first son was born with gorgeous olive skin like my Russian (or whatever) granddad, so I'm hoping that this one will too!

so bubs will be 1/2 indian, 3/8 english and 1/8 irish

OH is convinced she's gonna look like an indian film star as they are always stunningly beautiful indian women who look strangely western at the same time

I'm scottish for last couple of generations, as is OH, may be a smidge of Irish going back to a great-grandparent.
And we're both really pale skinned and OH has red hair, so I expect a pale and freckly little 'un

I'm Scottish/English

but we live in Spain... Lil miss has to contend with Swedish, English and Spanish spoken to her on a daily basis (DH and family speak swedish to her, my family and I speak English, and TV, Doc, shops and nursery are all Spanish)....poor thing must be so confused

Sorry I have budged in here but what a great thread!!

I am half welsh (my mum), and my dad was half Irish half scottish... so does that make me quarter irish? Either way I am a true celt!

Hubby has Scottish, English, American and Australian in him.

Squiglet, I would love Dan to learn different languages from an early age, I think she's really lucky. I am afraid that all he will learn from us is English from his dad and ummm 'double dutch' from moi!

Tia's swedish is a bit pants, but she's learning... but Tia also speaks the local Valencian dialect from here too.. (made to learn it in school) which is a mix of Spanish and French, so she should learn French really easily when she starts learning it in 2 years time...

Both of us were born in England but our families are Polish. I always wanted to teach my children to speak Polish but never got around to learning it myself so could be a problem!- don't fancy speaking to them and not understanding what they are saying!
