So pleased, yay Anna had the older female HV out to her last week who said it was ok to give her new baby formula if she didn't have time to breastfeed her. I was like WTF!!!! Anna is really surprised at how pro formula they are at our surgery, she was with Newton when she had her first baby who were really pro breast. I was so worried that they were going to try and bully you into formula top ups down there so am chuffed she did well But sad about her jabs Hope she feels better soon
Not good news im afraid shes only put on 1oz so she 8lb15oz now. Just when we seemed back on track we have fallen behind again. I had a long chat with the HV who has said i need to look after myself more, she was very nice and said there is no need to give her formula yet but we need to keep and eye on it as she is already on the bottom of her growth chart. Im already feeding her every 2-3 hours so im sure its the quality of my milk thats the problem. Im really trying to keep on top of my eating and resting but i dont know what else i can do.
I going to give it a few more weeks and if things dont improve im going to put her on formula as im dreading having her weighed and its stressing me out. Why is something so natural so hard
I don't know why its so hard when its supposed to be so natural. Our bfeeding has almost stopped now. It was the hardest thing I have ever tried to do. But I'll def try again next time.
Try not to let it stress you out as that can affect your milk as well so I'm told, tho its always easier said than done huh. Phoebs lost almost 10% of her birth weight in the first few days, so I did my fair share of stressing.
Do you think she's getting too much foremilk?
Wish I had more advice, but I am far from a breatfeeding expert
If you do end up having to top up with formula, try not to beat yourself up about it - I have only just stopped doing now, almost 3 months later! At the end of the day as long as you and baby are happy and healthy thats all that matters, I wish I had accepted that sooner.
Fingers crossed its just a blip for you and she puts on more weight by next week
Logan has only been putting on 1oz a week for the past couple weeks and has fallen from the 50th centile to the 25th. The HV's dont seem worried though.
Try not to worry too much
