So the wee man had his HV 14-16 weeks check and she 'thinks' there's a problem with his hips :(

He has uneven creases and thinks one of his hips is showing resistance :wall2:

She's not referring him, she says that takes too long here. So he's to have an xray when he's 20 weeks and if this shows a problem he'll get an immediate appointment.

Has anyone else had this, I know Alice has so any advice is welcome :)

The HV did say all could be ok as well xx

i had this with Madison, she got hip scans as she also had uneven creases - apparently her fat was unevenly distributed pmsl! she was fine! scan was easy , just an ultrasound on their hip they dont even need to be naked so its easy :) hope it goes well xxx

Thats really reassuring, thanks hun xx

Hope the wee man is ok hun, will be keeping an eye out for some news x

This wee man isn't short in the fat department

haha its prob just that, the ultrasound woman was moanin at how many 'chubby' babies are sent to her when they can move theyre legs perfectly well pmsl!! she tried her by holding her ankles and putting her knees together and spreading as far apart as she can ?? xx

Isla had an issue at her newborn check, 5 doctors later they referred her to another hospital. She had an ultrasound at 6 weeks and they were happy that there was nothing wrong. At her 8 week check the doctor picked up on it, so I'm pleased they are doing their job.

He'll be just fine :) the sooner it's picked up the better x

Thanks everyone

The wee man saw his paediatrician today and she didn't think there was a a problem but obviously he's srtill get checked xx

Really hope everything's ok...glad his paediatrician doesn't think there's anything to worry about  x

I has exactly the same said to me with Blake. (uneven creases) He has an ultrasound booked next month.

In the meantime I won't let anyone put him on his feet (my MIL always does this with babies so got told off straight away) and at the children's centre there are a load of baby walkers but I don't let him go in those either - not until I know what is going on with his hips.

Sofia has also been referred, just waiting for a letter. Uneven creases in my case too! And when she had her hips checked she wouldn't relax so the doctor couldn't properly check them so she referred her. X

I was told Aoibheann had hip problems at her 6 week check up , she's has lots of check-ups and an xray only to be told her hips are perfect and she just had a clicky ligament .

Seems like lots of babies are getting referred :)

Well the wee man's HV rang the other day and has spoke to the hospital here that deals with it, so he's been referred immediately  he should be seen within a a fortnight. Kinda worried now :(

I think sometimes its to cover themselves , my health visitor explained to me that if there was a problem and it was left untreated as baby got more mobile it could cause damage .. and then they could be sued for not dealing with it . So they like to get it checked as quickly as possible :hugs:

my eldest had an extra crease too turned out it was just an extra fat roll

shit i've just seen this! i'm actually really glad so many babies are being referred for checks! not cos i'm glad there could be problems, but i'm glad they're being extra careful! they "forgot" to refer katie and thats why we were so late with it all! they only tend to scan babies under 12weeks ish, cos they wiggle too much, E had her scan about 8 weeks and it was pushing it again cos she didnt like to stil still! in most cases, it is just uneven fat, Lisa (MMs) lil lady got checked out too and it was just extra chub with her, which is what i was expecting with K!

have they given you a date? they might be bringing it forward a bit aswell, cos its hip awareness week this week aswell, so they'll be having it all pushed at them aswell!

any questions, i'll keep an eye on this thread now i know its here! and check out the steps website, it got loads of info, looks a bit scary, but its not as bad as it seems! was planning on doing a thread on hips actually! *goes off to do it!*

Alice I don't know the history of this with K. What happened?

before i forget to say, cos i forgot before, its more common in first born girls, i think like 9/10 cases are girls!

basically, my MIL noticed at about 4 months that K stood funny and the HV realised she had an extra crease, she said she'd refer her, but "forgot" (her words ) and i assumed it was all just being processed until her 9 month check, where there was absolutely no record of it in her notes! i'm gona go and try and find an old thread, to save me typing it all out again, cos she's now awake and pestering me  but if i cant find it, i'll type it all up anyway! have just done another thread in here too with a little bit of info!

Just my woman :yay:, meant to pm you to steer you in this direction but forgot :dohh:

No date yet, going to ring HV and get her to chase it this week :|
