My "light of love" for the babies that I never got to meet.
To all those that have lost - they may have never been in our arms or they may not have stayed in our arms very long but they are in our hearts and they are part of who we are. They are part of the past and part of the future, they are part of our families and form part of our very being.
An angel of the book of life
Wrote down my babies' birth
But whispered as she closed the book
Too precious for this earth
And so a pair of little wings
Upon my baby grew
And then one day away to heaven
My tiny baby flew
Although I never saw your face
Or called you by your name
You will remain inside my heart
Until the end of days
And even though my loving arms
Will never cradle you
I'll always be your mummy
Angel babes have mummies too
And even though we're not together
We'll never be apart
For you have left your tiny footprints
All across my heart
Ladies, I have never suffered the loss of a baby but many of my dear friends have. I wrote this for my best friend after the loss of her first baby but wanted to share it with you all. I hope it's ok to do so.
Thanks for sharing everyone! It always astounds me to think of how many families are affected by pregnancy and infant loss.
(apologies for my sideways picture, I think Oirrinn must have been having a giggle at me!) x
