This baby is diabolical, he just won't settle at night, we try 5-6 times until he is so zonked out he just HAS to sleep. The second he feels the bed, he starts wailing his head off.

We are at our wits' end! Last night he fell asleep at 12.

Aw hun.

I've had many night like this and I know how awful it is.

I'm sure you've tried everything you can think of to get him asleep but what I find helps me deal with it is telling myself

'she will sleep eventually'

I know it sounds a bit daft but in the night when you are tired you sometimes can't see an end to it can you

Xxxxx

Yep we're in this club too only it's day and night LO can survive on 4-6 hrs sleep each 24 hrs if I'm lucky :( x

Dylan can be like this at times too although doesn't take as long to go to sleep as Vince! I find he's worse if he's over tired so now he has a bath, bottle then if he's showing signs of tiredness up to bed and if he seems ok he has a story. Sometimes he still fights it and we pick him up, resettle, and then back down again. If he's not full on crying just wimpering we will sit by the cot and he usually settles within a minute. He's also been a lot better since he started rolling as he rolls straight onto his front and straight to sleep.

Have you tried lying him on something that smells like you? I wore a blanket around for a while and put that down as a sheet and he settles well at night.

Sorry I hit send before I meant to! I hope you manage to get him to sleep earlier tonight x

He really has a sixth sense for this, I BF him to put him to sleep, wait for a while until he's in a deep sleep in my arms (or so it would seem!), but the second he makes contact with his bed, he flips! We've tried everything, warming it up, sleeping w sheet, I even put my boob on his face so he can smell me. Unless he's absolutely knackered, he WILL howl.

The worst bit is, he used to self soothe and be in bed around 7-8 :(

A few girls here have mentioned the book 'The Wonder Weeks'. I just got it too and it describes mental leeps and the fussy periods that surround them. One of the leaps is at around 19 weeks but the fussy period can start weeks earlier. One of the signs is that the baby doesn't sleep as well as usual and is more stuck on Mom.

I bf K to sleep too and find she'll settle better if i hold her arms down for about 30 seconds after I put her down. I am sure you have tried that though. Hopefully it is just a phase and he goes back to sleeping well soon!

Might these also be signs he's ready to start weaning....?

No don't wean yet. Think of his stomach!

I am contraversal BUT I feed him to sleep on my bed (in the middle where he is safe) and move him into his cot after he's been asleep a while sometimes I leave him until I go down myself. I usually lay him on a muslin too so he doesnt feel my hands when I move him into his cot.

You mean feeding him lying down? x

Ummm sorry dont have a bubba but my aunt had this with my cousin so she had this bed thingy that clipped to the side of her bed somehow so she could lie next to him and bf, then you dont have to move him? Xx

I used to feed Vince lying down in the mornings, was lovely and I could sneak a nap in as well, but gave me blocked ducts :(

I found it helped my blocked ducts.

If you massage while feed and feed other ways in the daytime you should be alright.

I think Vince's latch is bad lying down - also, having small boobs, I need to contort myself quite a bit to make it possible, LOL!

The 4month growth spurt? Its horrible, Issac was hard to settle sometimes fed more sometimes fed less, a lot of ppl mistake this for signs of weaning, I'm so glad i didn't wean issac as he is back to normal feeding amounts.

Hope it doesn't last long but i think issacs lasted the whole month, he was fussy for a while but only fed a lot the last week of it x

Ahhh I've always been blessed in that department. Not sure what else to suggest I'm afraid
