Twins chat 2016/17!

Im now over 21w. First pregnancy but bump is showing fast and heavy now lol
I always knew that if you're a non identical twin you have more chance of having twins but my sister has had 2 single pregnancies . Plus that we're the only twins in the family and my mum was 35 when she had us (age increases the risk of twins too aparantly) But this is my first pregnancy and I'm 24 so ha joke was on me at the first scan. To be honest it took me a while for the idea of twins to sink in, it was quite a shock as it was so unexpected. But now I'm loving it and cant wait to meet our two little princesses :) would be very funny if one turns out blonde and one a brunette like me and my sister

Mrs B your boys are so cute! Can tell they arent identical though. But I have also always said all babies look alike so get where people could think they were :p

When they are asleep with hats on they are pretty much identical but that's about it x

It's a good shock to have isn't it :) I didn't sleep for three nights x

Valentina, I know ID twins aren't hereditary, but both my aunts have them and I'm pregnant with them! It could just be a big coincidence I suppose :)

My bump is all lopsided at the moment! I've got one head up on the left and the other transverse but with her head towards the left as well so all the "bulk" is on one side haha. I hope she shifts herself as I haven't booked a csec! What happens if you go in for induction and they aren't in the right position? It seems like you have to book sections quite a lot in advance at my hospital, but I guess it would then be class as emergency.. hmm

I would ask if you can book a c-section just in case if you can. My doctor said it's not ideal if you have to resort to an emergency one as no one is prepared.

I'll ask them on Monday.. Blue, you must be feeling really "full of baby"? I've just started to feel really full, like I can feel the pressure of them almost like I'm going to pop. It literally feels as though there isn't anymore space to grow, my tummy is stretched to the max (with ghastly marks to match). Do you feel a pressure type feeling too? x

Definitely, as if my stomach is going to burst! Had a 3 course dinner last night, that was a mistake!
My legs are having trouble taking the extra weight too, sometimes they buckle when I stand up! I wonder how much they weigh now! Final ultrasound next week! Twin 1 is still head up!

So you girls feel like they are heavy quite low as wel! I'm feeling so achy in my lady bits & my hips and lower back! Want them in for as long as possible but kudos to the women that go 38 weeks plus with twinnies that's hardcore lol they must be around 5lb each now if not bigger do you think blue?

You two are 2 weeks ahead of me and I'm dreading how I will feel in 2 weeks! I just did two loads of laundry and unloaded the dishwasher and my back feels broken and stabbing pains in lady bits (I believe they're referred to as "fanny daggers" LOL).

Yes I agree about women that go 38 weeks plus - dreadful business! My Aunt went to 40+2 with her twin boys and they were nearly 8 pounds each. Horrifying thought having to haul all that weight around!

Aww bless you girls the end gets so uncomfortable, we got into routine really fast and really well and after the first few weeks having twins is just normal everyday stuff :) x

Yes I think they might be 5lb each now! 8lb each OMG!
I hoovered the car today as DH will be driving it to work and I'll have the 'new' one with the baby paraphernalia in! Its my last strenuous task but couldn't be avoided as it was a right mess! Had a long rest on the sofa afterwards!
How swollen are your ankles? My feet are quite puffy too. :(

Hi girls. As most of you know from the January thread, I had my twins, Erik and Olof, on Friday the 18th. Emergency c-section because of severe preeclampsia. Gestation 30+2. Both boys are doing great though. They amaze the staff at the neonatal ward with their quick progress. They were off CPAP after two days, one more day and no extra oxygen. Within a week all the drips were removed. They've turned on their weight curve now, even though they're still below their birth weight of 1135 (Erik) and 1225 (Olof).
My preeclampsia is gone but I have to take blood pressure medication for a month. More or less recovered even if the scar from the section still hurts a bit.

Since I can't figure out how to make images small enough to upload to PF, here's a bunch of Dropbox links.

Wow 8lb each isn't that bonkers! My neighbour who must be 50's said him and his twin were over 8lb each! Blue I need to do that but I'm tempted to take it to our local car wash people for a tenner ha ha! I struggle with the dishwasher now just because it's so low! Blue my ankles are crazy ! And my fingers in the morning too. It's all worth it though. X

So glad they are doing well Rhiandell and that you are too, can't seem to see on the links :-( they sound like strong cookies you all do! Xxx

So adorable Rhiandell, I replied on the January thread. Glad they are progressing so well. :good:

£10 to clean your car inside? That's well worth the 50 minutes it took me and the back ache! DH is very frugal and washes his car himself but I always go in the car wash!

I have a stool in the kitchen now so I can rest between tasks! I get kind of mild pins and needles in my fingers in the mornings, got it now, is that normal?

Yes that's inside and out ! Great isn't it! Going to get mine done tomorrow I think x

I think they say with the swelling it can cause that with hands and fingers and can be a touch of carpal tunnel sometimes too. X

Wow I'll have to see if they do anything like that near me!

I heard severe swelling can be a sign of pre eclampsia so keeping an eye. Legs are currently ok but one foot is worse than the other.

Rhiandell congrats, it won't let me look at the pics but I'm glad they are doing well and progressing :)
Don't worry about the section pain - my scar only finished healing 2 weeks ago
Hope you are feeling very proud of yourself :) x

Ladies I found some symptoms hard to judge - I never knew if they were serious or just because it was twins - if in doubt get checked out :) ... Who's the next scheduled to deliver? X

I think it's blueflower? Shortly followed by FBTTN8079 and then myself. I think we're all around the week before/after Christmas so lots of twins should be appearing end of THIS month!
