Hi

New to this forum, in fact new to any kind of forum! Partner suggesting getting online to speak to people about to embark on treatment or going through it. Background to me, been living with my partner for two years the date he moved in I stopped taking the pill as knew he had fertility problems, he has had ICIS with a previous partner, which was successful and we are now investigating it for us.

We have visited the local fertility clinic and I've booked for my first lot of blood tests in a month. We have to apply for exceptional circumstances if we want NHS treatment as my partner has already had a round with his ex. GP says I should apply cause I don't have a child myself, if we don't get funding we have to pay and we have now started saving for what will probably be one shot at ICIS.

Is anyone else in my situation, knowing when they set up home, this would be something to face, not knowing if NHS treatment an option, facing saving up for possibly one and one shot only? My GP is amazing she has been so supportive from my initial enquiries and very encouraging to get my test done so if there are any problems with me I can address them or make a decision on whether to even try treatment.

bit of a rant! be good to hear from someone xx

Hi and welcome to PF

I've also been trying just going on 2 years although ours is secondary infertility. We begin ivf next month and although we have no male factor issues, our clinic are trialling ICSI for all patients to see if it increases pregnancy rates so we're getting it for feee. I don't have the same background as you but I'd be happy to keep you updated on our ICSI journey and the ins and outs :)

It's great your gp is being so supportive, it makes such a difference. Because we already have a child together we have to pay but everything crossed you get accepted for the special circumstances and can get started quickly!

Lots of luck xxx
