Tricks and myths

Ok so I know baby will come when he is ready but just intrigued to see when everyone is starting to (if it all) try all the tricks, and which ones they will be using.
I'm starting to get paranoid about doing certain things like dtd for example, incase it induces a little early, however I do think a lot is myths as people for example, eat spicy food through out , have sex through out etc.
Although I have read about the scientific reasons for dtd.
Bit of a ramble sorry, just wondered if anyone was avoiding anything until full term etc x

I'm not avoiding anything lovely, I did wait to bounce on my ball till 37 weeks but everyone's different.

My sister in law had spicy chicken fajitas with both her pregnancies and went on to labour that night both times! (It's the Aldi pack of anyone's interested haha) so Im excited to try them closer to my due date xxx

Curry/spicy food is proven not to work - they did a segment on labour on This Morning a while ago and good old Dr Dawn confirmed curry does nothing!

Pineapple does work if you eat a whole pineapple (again from TM segment).

Sperm contains the same hormone as the pessary for induction.

Expressing makes the womb contract, which can kickstart proper contractions.

Unfortunately, none of these work unless baby is already making a move anyway! It's the baby that starts off labour (apparently they have no idea how they do or how they know when to come) and they will only come when they're ready!

That's good to know, I think I will have a shopping trip to Aldi!!
Well I enjoy spicy food anyway and had a hot curry the other evening then panicked a little I would kick start labour then realised I was being ridiculous, but things like spicy food and fresh pineapple/pineapple juice etc I enjoy anyway!
But I bought a yoga ball to relieve back ache so have been using it and me and OH have dtd but keep thinking should I wait it out until Thirsday to be doing these things, but surely it would kick start during any point in pregnancy unless baby is read so to be honest it's going to happen anyway. Pregnancy is so confusing haha.
Xx

Awwww really Kumber!!!! It must have just been coincidence with OH's sister how mad is that - lucky lady!! She's pregnant again so she will be doing the same this time too will be interesting to see what happens!

Yeah I agree - baby makes it all happen although I'll still be trying my best to encourage it haha xxxx

Nothing worked for me but I enjoyed trying everything out! Gave me other things to focus on when I was overdue, kept me busy.

Nothing worked for me either, I was 9 days overdue when scrubbing the floor kick started labour but I think it was a coincidence :)

I can honestly say at 40+4 today I have tried most if not all the myths and old wifes tales and I am still pregnant and uncomfortable!

I have had curry, a whole pineapple, dtd, nipple stimulation/ hand expressing, raspberry leaf tea, clary sage oil in the bath, yoga ball (have been bouncing for weeks), long walks and even a visit to ikea!

Baby will come when it's ready and if a myth 'works' for you its just a coincidence or you were ready and just needed a tiny bit of encouragement. Xx

They are just going to come when they want aren't they haha! Ruling the roost before they are even here :) xxx

Statistically if it is your first baby you are more likely to go overdue anyway then labour early but there are always exceptions to that rule ;)

Tri hopping...nothing worked for me last time, pineapple, spicy food, bouncing on ball, dtd, long walks, up and down stairs! I also spent the last week decorating, tiling the bathroom and going to the tip. (repeatedly!)
I went 5 days over and had 2 sweeps...but when she came she was good and ready and arrived in 6 hours!

I'll probably try all the same things again this time though! Xx

I ended up induced with my daughter but that lead from being self referred . I was standing in the Indian just buying my spicy curry at the time, never even got a mouthful so I guess I can say the spicy food worked for me last time too haha xx

and even a visit to ikea!

Haha, is this a new, modern labour encouragement? :p
I think I'd rather he stay in forever! Saying that I did visit our local one a couple of weeks ago, and the only thing that wanted to escape my body was a load of bloody wind.

I knew spicy food was a load of bollocks. I have an abnormal proclivity towards very hot food and baby is still comfy inside. I'm not a fan of pineapple but I have tried dtd and I've been on my hands and knees more the past couple of days than the village bicycle...cleaning I might add :p still no baby.
I finally tried bribing with money. I offered €1000 if he came out today.
So, basically, I've not personally found any truth in the myths!

Exceptions is right, 3 days early with ds and 3 days overdue tomorrow! Wrong way around, no?

Hahahaha oh no! Definitely the wrong way round bless you! Any signs? x

Thanks Bunny! There is light at the end of the tunnel, he will be here in less than 2 weeks by hook or crook!

None yet H16 but other than a show I'd none with ds either. So I'm munching on homemade brownies and milk to perk myself up :)
