Just watching the BBC this mornng and they were talking about clearing the snow off the footpath in front of your house. Apparently if you do it and someone slips you could be liable for any injuries they suffer!

I had been thinking i would do it this morning as we get quite a few walkers past our house and being on the side of the hill if its not done its impossible to walk on it and you have to then walk on the road.

So would you clear the snow form the foot path outside your house if possible or would you not.

Sandi

I would but more for my own benifit than anyone else. If they want to sue let them. There welcom to half of bugger all if they want. :talkhand:

I live in Toronto where snow in the winter is a regular occurance and it is a bylaw that you have to shovel the snow in 24 hours after a storm.

My husband had a bad fall on a ramp because it wasn't shovelled properly and had to have shoulder surgery. When he was in the hospital there were lot of people with injuries caused by the snow.

Do it.

now is this the pathway/driveway to your house or the public footpath outside your house?!

If its your path to your front door or your driveway fair enough, dont want postman pat goin on his arse  or do i?

but if its the path out side :talkhand: would i buggery... councils property let them get sued!

Thought I ask how the frig can you sue for snow.... it falls out the sky?!
fair enough broken uneven paving but snow???? surely not :shakehead:

Nope. If someone goes arse over tit then you could be sued  (lovely society we live in for trying to be helpful).

We have salt on our own path, but for the benefit of myself and my family, but not the pavement where the public walk, that's a job for the council imo.

Oh my goodness, in Canada it could be a different story. But in the UK where we probably have on average 5 snowy days a year, every chance there's fewer.

I wouldn't sue if I slipped on my neighbours path, that's just friggin' crazy. I'd feel stupid I hadn't been more careful in the 1cm deep snow!

We're lucky in that because we're on a main road the council clear the pavement and the road! Previously we'd always clear the driveway and the pavement in front as well.

Thats when you get dangerous black ice, I always prefer to truge through snow or sludge, unless you have grit to put down?
