Just thought I would let you know that I watched a programme on BBC Three tonight about labour and childbirth, and the MW on there gave a tip to avoid tearing your perintheum (sp?!)

You can use vegetable oil on your index and middle finger and insert into the vagina near the opening, then you just rub around the inside and it increases the blood flow and has been shown to avoid tearing.

They said it helps a lot more with first time mums...

I heard about this a while ago and thought it was too gross - I wish I had now :lol:
 
Ive heard that and its like ewwww, my tip is too have a lovely 6lb 9oz baby then theres definitely no tearing, unlike the first time with my 7lb 8oz son omfg i peed razors for a month :shock:
 
I can't bear to even touch my perinium! I tore a bit with James and it's felt weird ever since
 
i did it a bit... wish i'd done it more now... sitting down is not pleasant :? :(
