Thrush question

What are the signs of thrush? Sofia has a White tongue and is feeding for very short periods. Will I get signs of it on my nipples? If so what seethe signs? I can't decide whether it's just milk on her Tongue or something else. Help! X

I have very itchy nipples and I'm not sure if it's thrush too. I'd like to know what are symptoms too please.

Hi me and zak both had thrush. He had a white tongue and white on his gums and the roof of his mouth. I just had really sore nipples and tmi the skin was peeling off them lots. If its treated quick its fine but me and zak didnt recognise it for so long and it got so bad i had to stop breastfeeding him. Ask ur hv/midwife for presciptions for u both if u think even just one of u is showing symptoms cos its so easily passed. I got a cream and zak had a liquid that was banana flavour that i had to pipette into his mouth. it took a while to clear up but we r both fine now x

I'm currently sitting in the walk in (silky me didn't register her with the GP) just gonna get whatever it is I need I guess! Poor baby is not a happy bunny she's basically got a White tongue. So I'm gonna take that as she potentially has it. Lol. X

If it's just a milky Tongue then you should be able to 'wipe' away the whiteness off her tongue. Thrush is a stubborn bugger that won't go. I'm not what the signs are for your nipples though Hun xx

Yodabo is right, if it wipes off then it's not thrush. You will know if you get thrush in your nipples, LO and I had it when he was 4 weeks old, and I seriously felt like giving not bf'ing any more, it felt like needles coming through every time he sucked, it hurt soooo bad!!! We went to the docs and got some Daktarin which cleared LO's mouth up in about 3 days but it took a lot longer for me to clear and LO kept having to use the Daktarin to make sure he didn't get it off me again. He didn't mind though, it tastes of orange lol.

thanks guys i went to walk in, waited an hour and a half to be told it was just milk turns out she was just having an off day! oops. at least i know what to look out for x
