The arrival of Thomas James (T.J. Teej, Teejy, asbo Teej- anything going really!)
Thomas was due on April 11th but decided to take his time!! I was booked in for a stretch and sweep for Wednesday 18th April, which I went for - wasn't as bad as I thought actually! Then when we got home I was getting on and off periody type pains. By about 80 they were coming regularly and lasting about a minute. I was convinced they were braxton hicks and didn't want to get my hopes up! 90 came aroundand they were getting more painful and every five minutes but they were manageable. P wanted to phone the labour ward but I wanted to watch The Apprentice! Phoned labour ward at 100 and they said just to stay at home and see how I got on. Watched Grand Designs whilst getting up a bit and walking and the pains were getting slightly worse but still coping. Went to bed and managed to sleep for an hour (I have no idea how!) then woke up at half oneish and was in more pain and decided to have a bath. After that thought I better phone LW and they said I could go in if I felt like it, so after a particularly bad wave I decided to in. Went to the toilet befor I left and my waters broke.
Got to hospital all dribbly at 30am. Went to toliet again and it was green - the monkey had pooed!! They examined me and they realised he was in an awkward position and would possibly need to be delivered by forceps, ventouse(sp!?) or c section . Went to delivery suite and by this point I was in agony, so decided to have an epidural, it took 3 attempts to get it in (they normally only do two but he saw how much pain I was in and went for another!) they only gave me 70% so I could still feel contractions.
At about seven they said to start pushing, which I did for two and three quater hours quite hard going. Eventually they said they were going to get the consultant in to do the forceps. She came in and within twenty minutes at 10:18 Thomas was yanked out of me with what can only be described as bbq tongs!! I had to be snipped so I had stitches which are sore now!!
He is an absolute smasher, beautiful and perfect and although I hated every minute of labour it was all worth it!!!
