Hello ladies :)

So i just got back from my "May" appointment and it all went rather well.

The GP did comment on it not being very long since our last appointment which seemed to bemuse him but he didn't seem annoyed at least.

I was wrong and he did actually manage to pull yet another diagnostic out of his arse

"Have you been tested for cystic fibrosis?"
"No"
"Do you have family history of cystic fibrosis?"
"No"
"..............better get you tested anyway."

Urgh.

So that was another bloodtest for hubby, but fortunately we don't have to wait for the results before being referred!

Now i am waiting 6-8 weeks for a phone call so that i can go a see a nurse who will apparently go through a checklist with us and then we should have funding in place and that's that :good:

I do have a horrible fear that come 8 weeks i haven't heard anything and contact them to be told that i wasn't on the lisst or something, but that's just the Nhs i guess :oooo:

They also asked if we smoked, which neither of us do or have done for about 10 years and he said "We will be checking your carbon monoxide, you know." LOL He must be paranoid of poeple lying to him because we don't smell of smoke at all!

I'm going to phone up CARE and let them know and maybe they can do something their end i don't know :)

Don't quite know what to do with myself now :eh:

Wow your doctor is either really thorough or he has an extreme fetish for tests!!

I can appreciate him wanting to cover all aspects before sending you for IVF but jez how many more tests can he seriously think of!!

Still as you said at least the newest lot of tests wont delay things. I can completely understand your concerns regarding waiting 6 - 8 weeks only to discover they have screwed up somewhere, but I guess this is where you have to put some type of faith in to the NHS and just hope they get it right

Negative thoughts aside .... yay not long to go now for you, hopefully within the next 2 months you will be having your first lot of treatment and you could be preggo by the summer

You can join me, Maybe Baby and Esperanza84 as we are all waiting impatiently for our appts to get things started :clock:

I'm really glad things are moving for you. Fx they will now suprise you and ring you in 3 weeks instead of 6-8.

Glad to hear things are coming along for you Lousie, i have a good feeling for you this year :)

I appear to be the only one in LTTTC without anything "in place" fingers crossed for Thurs 24th hey xxxx

Glad things are on the move for you Louise. Maybe the 6-8 weeks will be a chance to do some relaxed TTCing?? You never know.....

Thanks for the replies ladies :)

I hope your right Vicky, a BFP in summer would be fab and it it something that we can all be realistically aiming for :good:

That is what is keeping me logging in at the moment, how you other ladies are getting on with your appointments - i'm half tempted to go MIA, but i don't want to miss out on all your updates :)

I don't think i'm going to bother ttc at all Bead, i just got AF again after a "relaxed" ttc cycle and it wasn't very relaxed at all. Just not even bothering at all is the only time i relax lol

Chaz, try not to feel disheartened

Glad to hear things are coming along for you both...I suppose it's just a waiting game, like ours have been..but then again it's going to be worth it in the end I guess.

I bet you are feeling very angry inside as you just want to have a baby you have been waiting for.

x

I bet you are feeling very angry inside as you just want to have a baby you have been waiting for.

Angry? Nope.

Not feeling angry at all, feeling pretty good and relaxed actually :)

really....I would be feeling angry in one way.

Glad you feeling relaxed about the whole thing, it's good to have that approach to everything that is going on

x

really....I would be feeling angry in one way.

You would? What would you be feeling angry about?

Now you got me wondering if i should be angry at something lol

I'm feeling pretty lucky all in all :)

Hubby has rubbish sperm but by the time we get pregnant, we should still be only 1 year ttc which is pretty good in the scheme of things - most people have to wait twice as long just for diagnositcs to start - and now i can to chill out for a couple of months before the fun begins.

That's good news Louise! :)

You've done a great Job of managing your TTC situation and I hope you get your dream from your first round of IVF.

If I was you I'd forget TTC and concentrate on you and Hubby and prepare for your IVF, maybe book a weekend away to give yourselves a break you could do relaxing spa break or something.

Hope you get to be seen sooner too!

xx

Thanks Maybe, i was tempted to write to you actually to try and get my head around eating healthily.

I'm not bad as i do enjoy veg and things but when temptation rears it's ugly head i just can't say no.

I have a spinach, cod fillet and tomatoes dinner planned in the fridge and i just had McDonalds instead :oooo:

I get get into the healthy mental attitude and just keep on focusing on how tastier other things are.

How do you manage to have a liquid veg meal and feel satisfied?

What do you typically eat and drink in a day and what portion size etc?

Ha ha! this post has made me laugh! :rotfl:

Guess what I've just had lol?!

A McDonalds too! I've had a chicken sandwich, a cheese burger and a filet' o' fish!!

Ok so healthy eating can start tomorrow!

So here's my usual weekly diet, I'm quite good at making healthy versions of unhealthy meals so you don't feel like it's a diet as such.

I always have at least one veg and one fruit smoothie a day made with my filter blender.

I use fresh juice like the grape and apple Tropicana as a base and throw in fresh blueberries, strawberries, apples, and raspberries for a berry one or for citrus I use orange juice base and then mango, pineapple, peach, and kiwi.

For veg I use an orange base as it adds tang as well as apples with carrot, spinach, broccoli and beetroot, they honestly do taste really good, Hubby say's they taste like soil but he still enjoys drinking them!

I also make a big pot of soup for the week to have at lunch with seeded bread.

My favourite at the moment is red pepper and tomato with harissa.

Here's how to make it-

Chop 1 onion and 1 garlic clove, throw in a large pan and saute gently with 1tsp of olive oil, meanwhile chop and de-seed 6 red peppers and 12 tomatos throw them in the pan along with 1/2 cup of water and put the lid on the pan and saute/steam for about 7-10 mins until the veg is just soft enough to blend.

Add 1 pint of water and then add 1 vegetable stock cube and 1 ham stock cube and 1 tsp of Harissa(It's a middle eastern paste with chilli and garlic) and small handfull of fresh corriander.

Blend with a hand blender (easiest option) or in a blender (a bit messier) and add salt and pepper to taste and add more water until you get your preferred thickness.

Et Voila!

For snacks I have cottage cheese and pineapple with dutch crispbakes or the seed snack by Food Doctor also I'll have brown pitta with tomato salsa, and total 0% fat yoghurt with granola and honey.

For Dinner, I make things like-

Chilli Con Carne, with extra lean mince and always add fresh tomatos to tinned and fresh onion and a large tin of kidney beans.

I always use brown rice, and top with reduced fat sour cream and a sprinkle of cheese.

I make Fajitas, with chicken and salad, I serve with seeded wraps and also I make sour cream and chive dip by blending cottage cheese and chives smooth with a bit of low fat mayo.

Another good one is filet steak with pepper corn sauce, M&S do a peppercorn sauce base, and instead of adding cream to it add healthy cream fraiche instead and serve with mash and asparagus.

If I make a curry either from scratch or with a jar of sauce I add literally add a whole bag of spinach grate in a carrot or two along with an onion.

For italian I buy low fat mozzarella and stuff chicken breasts with it along with ham and basil I make my own pasta sauce from to fresh tomatos, onion garlic and basil I should use brown pasta but I hate it so make my own or buy fresh.

I do have things like low fat choccy mouses in the fridge and If I have crisps then Quavers but I don't buy biscuits or cakes in.

If you need any tips give me a shout, I deffo recommend my smoothie maker though!

xx

Hi Louise, hows u?

Glad things are moving for you, im sure the time will go quick. I think its a good idea to book a weekend away so you have something to look forward to and take your mind off things for a few days.

Good luck with the healthy eating im not doing very well although ive started to go swimming a couple of times a week. I go on holiday in 5 weeks so need to do something.

Take care xxx

Maybe........any chance of you making a pot of that soup and sending some up to me? Ha ha sounds lush.

My maccies fave is big mac, large fries, vanilla milkshake and nuggets.......ha ha.

Glad your all positive Louise, will help you loads :) xxxx

I'm fine thanks Nikki :)

I did look into that aqua circuits that you mentioned but they don't seem to have it any closer than Ripley if i remember correctly

Are you going to that or just swimming?

Not sure what else i can do at the baths as an adult except arobics lol

A weekend away sound nice, just need to get organised. We took the dogs away for a couple of days to our apartment in Portsmouth but it was soooo stressful - one of our dogs gets so nervous in unfamiliar situations and the other get over-stimulated by unfamiliar surroundings... just can't please either of them lol

Where are you off too?

Thanks Chaz :)

MB that all sounds lovely, i make soups like you do to. i do a pepper and tomato one and i would recommend roasting the onion, garlic, peppers and tomatoes in the oven first before putting them in the blender and you get that lovely roasted flavour in the soup - really makes a difference!!

Louise, ur constant positive attitude is infectious, i love it!!

and chaz, not sure what we are calling LTTTC but i'm on cycle 11 and not really getting anywhere, had some basic tests but need to get my arse moving!! xxxx

Thanks Positivity :) I do have my wobbly moments ;)

Well, the Nhs website says:

"It is a good idea for a couple to visit their GP if they have not conceived after one year of trying."

http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Infertility/Pages/Introduction.aspx

So that's good enough for me to move to LTTTC and we'll let you in a month early because you're nice :good:

It's fertility treatment that needs the 2 or 3 years of ttc to be eligible and that is where the confusion lies and doctors quote that for diagnostics when i don't think they should :shakehead:

It's such a lovely sunny day isn't it :)
