Got the kids to help make this for Daddy's chrissie prezzie :D

Its done by taking their prints onto tissue and fusing it onto a candle. I added glittery letters and glitter and some crystals. Going to add some curling ribbon when I get some too :)

awww how do you do that in simple terms ? my mum loves candles this would be perfect ???!!!

1. Get an inkpad off fleabay (I can recommend the make "BRILLIANCE" or "VERSAMAGIC" as it wont smudge) http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Brilliance-De...photoQQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262

2. Get plain candle from poundy or home bargains that kinda place.

3. Get some white tissue like the kind they wrap clothes in and take your kids prints onto the tissue. Cut the print out close to the edge then add a dot of water to the back just to hold it temporarily in place then wrap a piece of wax paper around the candle over your image.

Heat gently using a heat gun or a hairdryer or hold over a toaster. The candle should just turn shiny then thats hot enough to fuse it on.

If you dont have wax paper you can use greaseproof.

Also to add photos you can securely tape tissue onto regular copier paper and print out as normal and do as above.

If you want more fun then you could get some "Shrink plastic" and take the kids prints, cook them in the oven (destructions on packets) and make keyrings (Cut hole before shrinking lol!)

that's great!

im loving the shrink idea too!

Looks amazing , thank you so much for the guide , guess i best go shopping for ink and paper !

That looks great.

Thanks for the info im going to have a go at that.

i have brought , candles , tissue paper , ink , grease proof ( couldnt find wax ?) and cant wait to give this ago , will post pics !

what brand of ink did you get gem?

Also test on the candle with your hairdryer if you dont have a heatgun, if it turns shiny when you heat it its hot enough if not hold it over a toaster as thats plenty hot enough

have fun!

got it from hobbycraft but there was so many different types i hope ive got one that works , cos im skint till i get paid on the 21st and that didnt leave long enough to do the printings etc !

woohoo , made 2 so far and there looking fab , got to add some bits to them , and my writing isnt coming out great ( what did u use cos im using glue glitter pens and its rubbish ?) and ive also got tissue on paper to attempt a photo one !!! leland got bored of fingerprinting tho and the hands were really hard  and the colours i got arent great either but sure grandparents will love the anyway !

oh and my hair dryer deffo hot enough , it keeps melting the candel :rotfl: pics to follow !

I have sticky glittery letters hun which stay on (kind of!)

Well done! Show pics!

Is that ink ok to use on babies hands, what if they put it in thier mouth? Sorry I worry about everything lol. Great idea. I really want to make a hand/foot print canvas but Im really worried about the ink/paint going in Evies mouth or eyes.

I have all the tools so will be giving it a go later.

Can i use colored tissue paper?

sorry to be a pain , but where did u get those lol my writing and letters falling off is really ruining the over all look !

Gem most craft shops will sell those stick on letters andi think Tesco do aswell (but they are not the fancy type).

Anyway ive made candle number 1 and im really please with it. I only have 1 colour of ink though

Rachel - Yes theyre non toxic but if baby is really little and likely to put hand in mouth then do footprint instead (as i did with molly)

Sticky letters mine are from a kit but you can get them in hobbycraft or tesco etc. Wrap greasproof over them and heat as that will put a layer of wax over the top to keep them in place.

Bloom, white tissue disappears when you fuse it to the candle so coloured tissue would be visible.

ive now tried so many different types of letters lol but my fav is some cheap silver / gold ones from willinkson ! i just couldnt find a nice font in gitter but hvae done loads now
