Teachers - telling work?

Hi, hoping there's some teachers out there to help me out!

I teach in a large secondary school and have no contact with the headteacher etc - I doubt she even knows my name Everything I've read about telling school about a pregnancy includes 'telling the head' but I have only ever spoken to her individually for approx 3 minutes so can't see the point of a heart to heart now!

I'll be 15 weeks when we start back next week and want to tell people there, but not actually sure what / how to do it 'officially'! Hoping for some advice from fellow teachers...thanks in advance!

I'm a Head of School - my advice would be to tell the deputy head or assistant head, if you feel the Head isn't around very often. You can then request they either keep it quiet, or tell the Head but no one else etc. Whatever you're comfortable with. Alternatively, you could write a letter and address it to the Head if you wish.

I told my head directly, but I work in a 2 form entry primary school, so I do speak to our head anyway. I think a letter to the head is a good idea and then speak directly to a senior member of staff that you have regular contact with.
