i got the child benefit but am waiting for tax credit - i got the letter last week but no payment as yet!!

Do you have to phone up for the tax credit form or can you walk into the jobcentre and pick one up ?

is it just tax credits I claim when my baby is born or is there other things I claim for? I'm unemployed and my partner is a college student

you ring for one and sometimes they can make u go to a local office to present urself with identification before u can actually have it... as well as tax credits ull need to apply for child benifit and if u havent already done so a sure start grant

I think you have to phone, Marianne. I phoned last night, it was really easy, they just asked for your NI number and a few things about you (employment status, children, how much you earned last year approx etc) and give you an estimate of what you will be likely to recieve weekly and then they send you a pack out.

He said they aim to process the claim within 3 weeks of receipt of the form unless there's something else they need from you

Marianne have you got income support and you applied for your healthy start vouchers? Oo and to let everyone know they've updated the sure start maternity grant with the new rules too

i called them (again) yesterday ( 3 weeks after applying) and they said it should all be sorted in the next 7 days!!! hope so!!! im hoping i get a good amount backdated too! )

I think you wait till your baby is born, so you have a name and date of birth to give them

its now been more than 5 weeks! i called and they told me that becausemy partner isnt british (hes italian) they have had to do "extra checks" but i should get my claim notice in the next 2 weeks!!! wtf! arghhh. has anyone else had this with foreign oh's...i mean what are these "extra checks"?!?!
