Hi,

My little one is 11wks - i had a 3rd degree tear that needed repairing in theatre (40mins in theatre!)... I got muscle damage which i think is healing well and only hurts occasionally now.. :-(

My period arrived yesterday... I'm back on the contraceptive pill and this is my 7day break (after 21 days of pills).. So while its not a true period (on the pill you dont ovulate), so my question... The GP said i can use tampons so i nervously tried to insert a tampon.

Surprisingly insertion was no problem despite being nervous about tightness etc, it was fine. But once in, i started to get a funny uncomfortable feeling inside.

I wonder if its scar tissue or something. I'm ok in some positions but in others i feel uncomfortable. I'm confident its in the right position but wonder if theres damage up there...

Anyone else had issues with tampons?
:-(

Sorry hun no idea but I would like to know the answer also as my pill break is next week :)

Also, have you DTD yet? I am having light spotting each time at the moment, no pain, no sign of infection etc. and it is just a little spotting but I have no idea if this is normal or not. Considering what that area went through (almost 8wks post delivery and have third degree tearing) I am not overly surprised it may be a little irritated at times etc! On the upside, it is all very comfortable, painfree, and feels great to be back in the saddle so to speak! ;)

When I first used a tampon (I had always just used panty liners) it felt uncomfortable in some positions like you're saying, since then I have inserted tampons properly and they have occasionally been uncomfortable, there's no reason I could think of other than we are very delicate in that area and putting something so dry inside is bound to feel uncomfortable at times as it's absorbing moisture. Also it's your first use of would tampons after such a long time so it would feel strange, although the doc says it's ok to use them I think you should stick to panty liners for now just so that you're comfortable. our interiors are very quick to repair and I'm certain there's nothing wrong with the healing at all, maybe you should try tampons on your next period- even then they may feel strange at first but it'll just take time to get used to them again :)

I use cerrazette a mini pill = which most women don't have any kind of bleeding ever. I hated the bfn cycles while ttc as I hate sanitary towels, but have trouble with tampons all the time! since having my first daughter my cervix is really low - like only an inch from entrance (soz tmi) so if I can get a tampon in and get comfy it soaks into the side of it cos that's where my cervix is....not nice......

have you checked where your cervix is as that can make tampons really uncomfortable.

Could be dryness. If you don't like pads, try looking into a mooncup, I've had one for years and would never go back to tampons.

Maybe try different tampons. I find tampax grow long and lillets grow wide, when wet. Since have my first I struggle with Tampax and have changed to lillets.

I still do too and I don't tend to bleed heavy so when I take it back out because it feels really off can hurt too! Grr! After a year pp it still does and now it can't be the 'trauma' it could've possibly caused my muscles inside as I've seen a physio for that.. It may be that the pelvic floors are still a bit weak ish which in turn could cause discomfort or maybe it's just fear and it ends up not sitting right.. You don't see me practising as I said taking it out bone dry can hurt! :( If it will ever improves I will come and tell you! x

Sorry to say hon that 4 years on I still feel uncomfortable wearing tampons. Also have an issue with them coming out as the day wears on. I feel very swollen down below when on my period and get quite a lot of pain inside too. I'm due number 2 soon and actually turns out I have a bit of a prolapse which is only now visible due to pressure from the baby pushing it down. If the feeling continues might be worth getting an internal exam to check everything ok inside. I do know its pretty common problem after childbirth xx

I had a 2nd degree tear and needed a fair few stitches inside.
I started using tampons on my 2nd period PP.. It eas uncomfortable, like u said.
I out it down to scar tissue and healing. Id say te cycle after that got better and now its all fine!

So FX for you its just everything healing x

I wonder whether size and brand may be why it's different for evryone I still can't use them.. :(

I've still had no period!!! Defo going to ask about it soon. I can imagine tampons will hurt me too. Dtd still does and even when I push to pee I can still feel scar tissue. Our bodies have been through a very traumatic time tho so try not to worry too much x x

We havent tried to dtd yet - really nervous to try.. I want to but scared...
