These symptoms can't do anything right eh :) Either we don't have them and we're worried, or we do have them and then want them to stop because they're not that nice, or we've had them and they go away and we get all worried again! lol ;)

Well anyway I wanted to post a positive thread around symptoms although it was somewhat dampened by my experience in the ladies' earlier today.

So I am JOLLY HAPPY that I don't need to go to the loo during the night millions of times for the last few days. I believe this is due to the uterus rising out of the abdomen. Today I woke up at 8.30 and got into work at 9:45am to which the guy working next to me said "you're in early!" May it continue!! (9.30 would be better!)

On the other hand, I've never had constipation like this. OMG! Blood! Doesn't help on the OCD front (argh, poo and open wound... noooo!!) Have just eaten a giant packet of dried cranberries and if that doesn't work I guess it's Boots tomorrow. (Suggestions & advice also welcome!).

Just wanted to get this off me chest ;) Feel free to add your own up & down experiences :)

You are so right!

I know what you mean about the loo problem though. This has just started for me, tried to talk to DH about it but he's such a prude and doesn't want to discuss 'such matters' lol! Not looked for any remedies yet but will probably need to soon. Trying to eat as healthy as possible but having such problems with food aversions at the minute (even though I don't feel sick anymore!) that it's hard.

Hope you get some relief soon
xx

On the constipation front as I suffer from this too, apple juice!! And rubbing my back helps alot when trying to go!!

My wee's have just started having to wee all the time!!! We wouldnt change it for the world even though we do have ghastly symptoms!! <3

What I would really like please is the occasional slight ligament twang and a brief feeling of very mild nausea several times a day that's gone within 10 seconds.

What I don't want is the room spinning, dizziness, and all day horrible nausea that is only kept bearable by constantly stuffing my face!

Although I can't complain on the bladder front, and I've not yet been constipated. Although I do naturally eat lots of whole grains and about 15 portions of fruit/veg a day so I might be lucky and not suffer so badly with constipation.

tinselcat , sorry to hear your problems your not taking iron are you? if your not you may need to check the iron in your diet , cereals ,green vegetables and red meat and maybe you may need to reduce alittle for a week or so .To much iron is the main reason for constipation. All the best xx

Also I recommend Fybogel sachets, I use them after birth as I suffer awful piles and they are great at softening everything up and getting it moving again. Good luck.

Thanks for the advice on the constipation front! I'll deffo try apple juice and if that fails the fybogel sachets :) surprised to hear that iron can cause constipation, i'm a vegan so wouldn't have thought at risk of excess iron, altho i am taking children's (half-dose) vitamin supplements so perhaps that's tipping me over the edge!

Woke up this morning at 4:30 (loo trip) and didn't get to sleep again until 6:30 :(

Willowwisp that sounds fairly horrendous, i hope you feel better soon! Xx

Claire - glad you're feeling better & hope some of these tips work for you too :) wierd how some men find the idea of discussing womens' bodily functions too much for their sensitivities eh! :) my OH is similar in that respect :D

Another vegan! Fantastic! I'm not alone! I eat lots of raw foods too, I only have raw vegan chocolates etc, I'm finding dark raw mint chocolate is helping my morning sickness x

dark chocolate is high in Iron , don't over do it willow , xx

a glass of warm water with a dash of lemon juice in the morning before y eat anything helps a lot with constipation

sorry willow of course not ,sorry, It's just some people don't realise what it is that their eating already and then they take extras on top then they feel terrible that was all. xx

No apology needed! I thought I was missing something vital! I have got baby brain at the moment x

It can be hard work being a vegan, making sure your getting all required proteins & fatty acids as well as vitamins and minerals, I think it's less easy to OD on something like iron than it is if your eating a more 'normal' diet.

My OH is insisting I take supplements (ones intended for children though!) containing vitamin A because I don't get any in my diet naturally and it's recommended that the baby should have at least some. Doctor's advice earlier had been "don't take any supplements containing vitamin A"! But then he's a lazy old git :D

And willow - great to find another teetotal vegan on here - we're a rare breed! :) I think I saw in Carnat's "getting to know you" post that ms_dove is vegan as well, yay!! I don't eat that many raw foods except as a treat if I go out to a raw food restaurant :)

My morning sickness (touch wood) seems to have left the building for now, except for extremely mild nausea. Another symptom vanish to be pleased about, I think?!

Helen - thanks for the lemon & hot water tip! :)

xx

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! No vitamin A!!! (I'm a self employed nutritionist, specialise in veggie, vegan and raw diets).

You can scoff as much NATURAL vitamin A (carrot juice is a fabulous supply of this) as needs be and bubba certainly needs it. However artificial vitamin A has been linked to foetal development problems, which is why they recommend you don't take supplements with vitamin A in, and they also recommend you stop using anti-aging creams with vitamin A added.

Eep! What do you do to get enough vitamin A and D?

I'll check my moisturiser..!

xx

snap - been suffering with terrible constipation, spending all my time desparate for a wee and 24-7 nausea and sickness. Today has been the first day for a few weeks that Ive been sick only once and only had mild nausea all day instead of it being horrendous! For the past hour or so I seem to have gained really bad heartburn instead. I just can't win lol! xxx

Vitamin D, I am outside an awful lot, but you can take a vitamin D substitute if you need one, best one is Nutri's D3 drops. Artificial vit D is fine, it's vit A artificially that's the problem, you can get a toxic effect very quickly.

Good vegan sources of vitamin A (in order from best to ok) are; chili peppers, dandelion root, carrots, dried apricots, collard greens, kale, sweet potato, parsley, spinach, mustard greens, mango, cantaloupe and broccoli

Your probably naturally fine if you eat spicy foods as you will be getting the chili pepper? Carrots are easy, dried apricots are delicious, they taste like natural vegan wine gums! You can easily stick collard greens and kale into a home made soup etc.

I thought vitamin D3 wasn't vegan? I was once prescribed D3 tablets but never got them for this reason. I did buy a vitamin D2 spray last year (from America!) but it's quite out of date now :(

We use cayenne powder rather than chopping up chillis, does that still count? I might try dry apricot, maybe it will help with constipation too?!

Thanks for your advice willow, it's appreciated! xx
