Swine Flu all over the news!!!!

I havent seen any of the swine flu hype on the news and when I first saw this thread I thought it was an old one!

I had a midwife appointment today and she assumed I was having it. I said I wasn't going to and she said she recommends it. I dont trust it. I don't even really do paracetamol.

I'd rather risk getting flu and them being able to sort me out if I spot symptoms quick enough rather than take it as precaution and ending up really ill and worse still it having long term effects on my baby.

I agree with Shauna, its too new and don't know enough about it for me to put that in my body.

I have seen a bit on the news about it, and they were urging specifically pregnant women to get it done, as the intake was so low this year.
There was also a bit in the paper about 2 days ago, that a pregnant woman is in a coma becuase of the flu/swine flu. In havent seen anything since, but then again, the only thing on the news now is the frickin snow!
Ive had it done, and wasnt even prompted, and havent received anything about it, so find it a bit strange that they are not reminding people.

I've caved and booked an appointment for tomorrow. I'm worried about the side effects and because its unknown if anything can happen but also worried I get flu and it effects the baby. I've already had 2 colds this winter.

Hope I don't get ill after it!

not sure where u guys are all from but its on the news in Edinburgh,My friends is in hospital with 2 weeks left of her pregnancy with type a flu and she is ill.

The flu jab has a little bit of the swine flu jag in it and is said to be safe for pregnant women.

My 5 year old son had the swine flu jag last year and was fine and im getting my Flu jab this week, People have been getting it for years so i can see no major problem with it and a friend had the swine flu plus flu jag last year and gave birth to a healthy baby girl, but i think its each to there own when deciding.

Hi, I have just had my jab. I did hesitate, but I am a teacher and teach 470 different kids in a week, many of whom have been coughing everywhere because their parents send them to school regardless of them being infectious. If I didn't have such a job I wouldn't as worried, but two of our pupils last year had swine flu and were in school when ill. Even in the docs today there were 6 people coughing and not even covering their mouths! Some people just don't give a toss about passing on germs to others, so I would rather take my chances with the jab than with the rest of the germ-ridden, inconsiderate population! ;-)

I read in the news there is a lady in Derbyshire who is in a critical condition with swine flu and is 5 months pregnant...they are saying she might lose the baby....I really don't know what to do for the best. The silly thing is I've just had flu (proper flu, not just a bad cold) and I was at my GP's and they know I'm pregnant and they didn't even mention the vaccination. At the moment my thinking is I've just had flu, I really can't see me catching it again, and although this lady's situation is tragic, it is also EXTEREMELY rare - there are hundreds of thousands of pregnant women who are just fine and will continue to be fine....it is hard to know what to do for the best though xx

Well I got it today and I feel rough! Feels like I'm getting a cold and my arm hurts so it better be worth it!

Has anyone else got the cold after the flu Jag? I really really wish I hadn't got it now :(

its not meant to be a live vaccine but i think they did say u might get cold like symptoms. i try and think of it as i would rather have the jag and put up with the sniffles over crimbo which ive had on and off anyway than like my friend who is in hospital with type a flu and ill and now has cysts on her lungs caused by the swine flu.
