Do they hurt?? What do the mw's actually do?? I'm thinking bout asking mw for one tomorrow but I don't like internals so if sweeps hurt then I'd rather carry on plodding along until charley decides to come!

you know i got MW on tuesday but my mw dont do it until 40+7 but i will BEG!

I was thinking I might ask for a sweep but don't want to annoy evelina cos noa's got to come first!! Lol

they dont usually do them till your overdue:(

they are more uncomfortable than actually painful

haha i be happy for you if you get charley but i want him to wait to tim comes back :hugs:

I didnt think they hurt or were uncomfortable. But then Im a little odd. One of them was a bit uncomfy, but that was because the midwife was awful. :)

what do they actually do? is it like a smear or am i just making that up? lol

xxx

They stick a few fingers up there and it feels like they're doing the washing up or something. Only one of mine hurt and the doctor withe the massivest hands ever did it and he wasn't one for giving up either (gave birth that night lol)

oh sheesh, lol,

what does it actually do then, kinda get it ready for baby to come out? x

they use their fingers to literally 'sweep' around your cervix, aggravating the membrane to -i guess one way of putting it- make things looser, more supple to get ur dilation going, ive never had one but my sister has and she said it was more embarrassing than anything because only her partner had been 'down there' before lolxx

The main thing I found uncomfy was a man apart from my OH sticking two fingers up me

i think its so embarassing and a little uncomfy having to sit there with your legs wide open but labour is alot worse i suppose lol although i never actually got a successful sweep because my cervix was to high so i dont know the exact details of what they do

Yea not so much painful, more "what's going on in there " lol
