Evening everyone! Hope you're all well (:

I am currently 40+4 && very fed up of waiting for her!

Tomorrow I'm booked in for a sweep at 14:20 and I'm stupidly excited at the thought of it (if it works!)

What are your experiences? Midwife told me its 50/50 if it works, what do you all think?

Also, how quickly did it work for you, if it did?

Any advice would be brilliant (:

Hi soon. Didn't want to read and run but I replied to your post in other bit :)

I had a sweep on the Monday and went into labour early hours of Thursday morning x

Unfortunately didn't work for me last time :-( good luck though. Hope it gets things moving for you. Not fun being overdue.

I had a sweep on the monday afternoon n was in labour early hours of Tuesday morning x

I had a sweep the Wednesday morning and my contractions started the Thursday afternoon x

Didn't work for me- midwife was honest, and said she thought it wouldn't, as my cervix was pretty much closed and very posterior. If your body is ready, there's a great chance of it kicking things off. I went to induction- little lady was as 13 days late in the end! :S

What exactly do they do? Sorry to have to ask, but I have been offered one in two weeks. The reason I don't know is because I'm very squeamish with internals and find them very heard to cope with. Yes I know there are people who think that's weird and will say it doesn't hurt, you can't feel them, but I do and get very worked up and upset. I had gas and air for my induction process with gel and braking my waters etc.

So, hit me with all the details of what they do lol I think I'm ready to hear it. Yikes!

I had three which didn't do much, LO arrived naturally 13 days late just before they tried to induce me.

Robyner - sweep is very simple, the mw inserts 2 fingers to try and find the cervix, if it's favourable she can try and either pull it or sweep around the membranes. It wasn't painful as much, more like period cramps and only sensitive while they are pulling on it. All I can say is take a deep breath and it will be over very soon xx

Had sweep at 11oclock and had pains a few hours later :) that was on my 5th day over

That depends on how ready your cervix is. It definetely works better in second or third pregnancies
