Hiya,

I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations of short breaks, including hotels or areas etc. I would love to go to Rome but wondering if anybody has any other suggestions or places they loved. We are not "party-people" so I am looking for a long weekend away somewhere nice and chilled with lots of things to see and beautiful scenery etc x

We recently Honeymooned in Bath, and it was lovely there was a lot to do and great places like the Thermae spa, good shopping/entertainment (two cinemas, theatres etc) lots of excellent places to eat.

Is it just you and OH or are you taking your boy as well?

I personally love Rome, would go back in a heartbeat (and I've been several times)

Barcelona is also up there for me!

xxxxxxxxxx

Ahhhh Rome! Love it! We only spent a short amount of time there on honeymoon (was based in sorrento).

Would definitely go back in a heartbeat!

Would also love Barcelona to see all the beautiful architecture.. Germany/austria is also great.. Love doing all the world war 2 sight seeing stuff like auchwitz..

Paris is always a popular choice...

I am glad Rome is nice as really want to go. Has there been a specific hotel you loved, I don't want to go somewhere rubbish, I keep getting groupon deals but I am not sure about going that way.
I will look at barcelona too, I didnt think of there x

Thanks for the suggestions, I think Rome is definately the front runner at the mo :) x

I would check any hotels you see on Groupon on tripadvisor.

I never book anywhere without consulting trip advisor, I love that website!

Krakov is amazing. Loads to see although the main place is auschitz which is obviously very emotional. The city itself is beautiful though. I think the best thing to do is to decide the weekend you want to go and look on money saving expert and skyscanner for cheapest flights. There's places like Bordeaux which aren't that popular but are beautiful With loads to do in surrounding areas. If you get cheap flights then you can splash out on the hotel

If you like Italy then Florence is fab- you can fly to Pisa cheaply then get the coach to Florence that drops you right in the centre

It's beautiful place- we went for 4 days and loved it

Rome and Barcelona are good too

Can prob dig out names of hotels we stayed in if you like x

If its not too much trouble then that would be great :) x

I agree with the Italian suggestions, love the country and the people, I've always fancied Pozitano. depends how long you want to be on a plane I guess. I also like Palma, especially at night it's beautiful and has a vibrant but laid back vibe and good shopping. Paris might be a bit much with a lo but I know a nice hotel near the Eiffel Tower and a little street market (amazing flowers) with good cafes and places to eat if that appeals http://www.hotel-paris-bosquet.com/ I miss being able to just book a long weekend somewhere, although I am looking at Rome for next spring - need lots of planning :) xx

Really need a week holiday or so for it but Positano is beautiful! We only stopped off for a couple hours while we did the amalfi coast drive.. It's a lovely quaint little village but be prepared to walk up plenty of steps! Our honeymoon in Sorrento and surrounding area has been the only holiday I've actually lost weight with all the climbing steps and hills lol..

I've never been to Rome, but I agree with the Florence suggestion. Beautiful city with so much to see, and the Tuscan countryside so close you can do day trips on the bus.

Thanks so much for all your help everyone, I am going to look into florence aswell :-) x

Barcelona is great, would love to go back. Kefalonia is also nice but I think it's more like a holiday.
Would you think about coming to sunny Scotland? I love Edinburgh!!x

Team Rome! It's my favourite place on Earth

For our next short break, OH and I are planning to go to Bruges, apparently it's absolutely gorgeous.

There's loads of amazing cities in Europe. Vienna, Brussels, Saltzberg, Berlin etc

Using Tapatalk can't see no tickers grrrrr.

Praha!!! How did I forget that one!!! Absolutely loved winter/ fall destination!!!!!

Sorry it's taken so long!

In Florence we stayed at the hotel executive on via curtatone. It was a good 10 min walk to centre, but along the river so lots to look at

In Barcelona we stayed in the gothic quarter at the confortel Almirante. This was pretty close to most things.

And in Rome we stayed in the residenze ave Roma. It was tiny and below street level on one side each room had a little balcony as the other side of the street was lower. Was pretty central and did what we needed it to.
All we did was get ready and sleep in the room- most days were spent out sightseeing

Xx
