Stinky nubuck shoes

I have a pretty new pair of shoes that have been in a box for a few months in the dining room with the dog. I took them out of the box the other day and they stink really badly of stale dog wee i dont know how cause he couldnt really pee on them being in a box under a table.

So any shoe experts out there no how i can clean them and make them smell all nice again? I know nubuck is difficult to clean.

Bicarb of soda crystals are good for soaking up smells, I sprinkle a cup in my bin every so often which seems to work, you could put some in a sock or tights and put it in your shoes maybe, dont know if they might mark if you use it straight. They are really cheap, about 50p for a sugar-sized bag with the cleaning products in Tesco

Ohh good tip thank , i'll let the oh know that one about being good for the bin.

Any more suggestions incase this one doesnt work?
