Hi ladies

My cycles are relatively settled at the moment but I'm not sure if it's because I've been taking maca which DH has forced me to stop until we've had our frozen embryo transfer.

What I do have in my cupboard are soy isoflavones. I tried them before on cd5-9 but only 40mg. I ovulated on cd12 but I've been ovulating on cd12 recently anyway. I wouldn't want to bring this much forward but I'd really like to increase my chances at the same time.

I know you shouldn't take it if you have regular cycles but I'm thinking what have I got to lose? I've read it can help both levels of hormones which is why so many get pregnant on it. I've also seen some ladies take it who do have regular cycles.

Just looking for advice really

Thanks

Katie

I think I would take it earlier in the hopes to release more than 1 egg. I would take it 2-6. I read that it's meant to be half the strength of clomid, so you should take double the soy.

For example instead of 50g of clomid take 100g of soy (the tabs are in 20mg so I would start at 80 or 120). I also read that people change the dose to increase it slowly.

I took soy and it did absolutely nothing for me. If I were to try it again I would probably go all barrels and take over 100g to make sure it did something.

Hi Phonixgirl. I think what you've got to lose is your regular cycles :( Personally I would be really wary of taking it if they are regular. I've googled it a lot and although there are some lovely success stories on here there are lots of other stories about it completely screwing everything up. My reflexologist who specialises in fertility has warned me against it as my cycles are regular. I would rather stick to the maca to be honest.

That's just my two pennith-worth. Obviously I'm not in any way an expert. Good luck whatever you do. X

I would be cautious if your cycles are currently regular. Have you looked into agnus castus or black cohosh instead? I got on better with those than with the soy, the black cohosh did give me a nice positive opk. I took it days 1-12, I'll try and locate the dose.

Thanks ladies.

Maca did great things but DH is just not buying into it and I've run out. I do have powder though...

Agnus castus just made me bleed loads. I read that black cohosh isn't too good for me but I can't remember why. Might be something to do with hormones?!

My cycles go from 26 to 28 days at the moment. The other thing is that I'll be doing HRT FET in October anyway so it doesn't matter too much if my cycles are messed up - that could mess them up anyway!!! Xx

Hi Phonix.

I took soy a few cycles back. I did 3-7 and increased the dose. Got a lovely positive cd14 on a 28 day cycle but no bfp at the end of it.
I have done soy again this cycle 3-8 missed out one day (hence going to 8) I have done 200mg (which is the max) every day. Got a cracking positive on cd13 and I am currently 5dpo.

From my experience soy hasn't messed my cycles up (the conception vits did but only adding 2 extra days onto my cycle). I will be doing soy again but probably changing to 2-6 at staying at 200mg.

I haven't had any side effects as I took at night but did find I was about drier in the lady region last time. Xx
