Wasn't sure where to post this...

Basically I was due a smear test last September, but was pregnant at the time, so it's due now as I'm 12 weeks post-partum. However, I started on Cerazette in December and have had intermittent bleeding with it, which still hasn't stopped.

My question is: does anyone know if I can have a smear test when I'm still bleeding? It's very tiny amounts, not anything like a proper period.

You can have a smear if tail end of period - e.g. not heavy blood flow days - so think it'll be absolutely fine x

Thanks for your reply! I just want it done and over with and have no idea how long this stupid pill is going to be affecting everything x

I work in a GP surgery and technically we can do them at any time, although the nurses obviously prefer not mid period for their own reasons!

Well I went today and the nurse wouldn't do it :( She wasn't even sure what to suggest as I haven't a clue when would be best - I'd had no proper bleeding since the weekend and only a bit of brown blood yesterday, but apparently even that meant she couldn't do it.

I used to work in general practice too, but couldn't remember our policy! Long time ago...

I was told you have to be completely clear for accurate results x

Problem is, the stupid pill I'm on gives almost continual spotting so keeps postponing my smear test. I decided to come off the pill today so at least I can get the smear done asap.

I had the same problem with cerazette and stopped taking it after 6 months! I've been off it a year now and I don't think I could ever take it again! X
