Ok so the boy wonder is up twice in the night getting fed.
He has just turned six months and is big boy (dunno weight not been weighed for ages!). He is established in solids and eating well. I have tried just giving him water but just gets up again half an hour later (if he settles back down at all!!)
So I give him a bottle and he goes back to sleep no probs. The other thing is although he in a reasonable daytime routine he is up at different times during the night (this is what's hard about it! I think I cd deal with it if he was up at approx the same time every night but I pull myself right out of sleep every time he stirs in case I have to get up. As a result I'm getting very little sleep!).

I have tried altering routine in various ways but no joy so far.

So any suggestions for what to try next wd be very very welcome!!!!

Hey chick,,,:)

Poor you, you must be well tired. Has he always been up twice in the night for a feed, or is this a new thing? Do you think hes just so used to waking up in the night its become routine for him?? Sounds awful but have you tried just to leave him to it and see if he settles back without you having to tend to him.
Also i was thinking is he def hungry in the night? Cos you said hes well established on solid, so he shouldn't really be hungry during the night, or maybe hes not drinking enough milk in the day. What do you think?... soz I'm rambling now ha ha ha.
Do you do a late bottle? We put LO to bed at six, feed him at half ten, then fed him at around six in the morning put him back to bed and then he gets up at eight. But he is def awake in the night at different times, talking away to himself lol, as i can hear him on the monitor, i don't go into him and he just goes back to sleep.
I'm not sure if i have been any help at all think I'm just rambling lol

Is he teathing? Devon was always up all day and asleep all night from about 8 weeks onwards which was great. Then when he was teathing from 5 months till last week (6.5 mths) he was up and fed twice a night but at random times like the pain woke him, he was a grumpy fellow! Went back to sleep after feed.

I would have tried to see if he really needed the milk, but he was starving, different times of night, and my kids would have woken with the screeming! But , we now have gone from 0 to 6 teath !! and back to sleeping perfectly last week, 7pm till 6am hope your routene changes soon

Lizzie was doing the same thing a couple of weeks ago, just for a couple of weeks! She seems to have got over it now and so long as she gets enough food in the daytime she will sleep through again, so was obviously just a phase or growth spurt! Hoping the same is true for your LO :)

Can't really be much more help, as long as he's scoffing during the day there's not a lot more you can do! We do use Hipp Goodnight milk in Lizzie's last bottle at 7:30, which is made up of bulkier stuff so apparently keeps them full for longer...no way of knowing if that's actually true, but might be worth a try?

Thanks all for the input!
To answer some of the questions: -
he was nearly sleeping through at about 3mths (9-5) but then contracted viral meningitis and ended up in hospital for a few days. That put paid to sleeping through. Times have been random ever since but has reccently gone from up three times to up twice (usually - but he is very irrregular!).

He is on hungry baby milk (Cow & Gate).

Think he is teething - very drooly, shouts all day (honestly he is just so angry!) gumming at stuff and gums hard but no bumps yet.

We was colicky when he was younger and I suspect he has reflux and am going to try to get infant gaviscon but the GP I saw at 2 1/2mths says no such thing!!??! I am also going to wear earplugs at night so I only get up if he is proper crying. His cry is so loud not only wd he wake DD up - he wd wake up neighbours kids too hahahahaha!! Unf. he is still in our room (decorating/diy issues blocking that for a couple more weeks at least!) I have given him a Nelson's noctura tablet (which I got for me!) squished up tonight - it is a homeopathic sleep remedy and says on the packet "suitable for all the family" so we will see if that helps! (Unf. we r at Granny's tonight so I wont know if that's what did it or different surroundings.)

He is such a wee devil compared to his big sis who with hindsight was the easiest baby in the world!! Guess I'm paying for it now!!

And it is not Emily's birthday - something bizarre has happened to ticker but I'm too sleep deprived to fix it lol

I'm having same issues with Lucy but luckily only one night feed but have a fight to try and get her back into her cot once she is woken !! She is fast asleep in my arms the moment I put her down she crys !!, sorry Hun I have no advice only that I understand how difficult it is xxxx

Rainbow dancer - hope she settles soon xx good luck!!

On a plus note the noctura seems to have made a difference.7.30 to 3.50 for two nights running. Let's see what happens tonight!!!

just logged on to ask the same question!!

JJ slept through from 7weeks but for the passed 5 weeks he's waking through the night, either just wingeing but not fully awake or fully awake, have tried the water thing but the last two night have give in and give him the bottle in the night. He is just over 6months now, has three baby meals a day and often a little yoghurt too and 4 7oz bottles throughout the day too, I am taking him to get weighed tomorrow he's definitely ok in that department (just ask my physio!!)

like the other girls say though it sounds like a growth spurt/teeth maybe (although he hasn't got any yet!!)
