Hey everyone!
We're not finding out the sex of this baby and I like to have a list of favourites to make it a bit easier when baby arrives.
We have a strong scottish surname beginning M, and would like to have at least a scottish sounding first name. I also like quite simple names, our DS is Ross, and when we named our little girl last year we went a bit more unusual as we knew there wouldn't be those ongoing issues with spelling and pronunciation, she is Oirrinn.

So on our lists are
Ellis
Elise
Ailis
Heather
Hope
Anna
Eve

Lewis
Euan
Cameron

Any suggestions??

I like Hope and Eve for a girl (Evie would be on my list but my friends daughter is called the same) and Cameron for a boy.

We have Harris decided as a middle name for a boy (I would have had as a first name but OH has two names he prefers over Harris!)

I liked Logan and Lachlan as well but OH dismissed those! My friends have recently called their wee girls Merryn and Alba but aside from that I can't really think of Scottish names that's bad after living here for 7 years!

There's a website I was having a look at:
http://www.gro-scotland.gov.uk/statistics/theme/vital-events/births/popular-names/
Lists all the names that were given to children in 2013 in Scotland which might give you some more ideas! xx

Oh Rhea! That's quite a Scottish name - but my sister in laws! xx

I'm the same, we love Lewis and Aaron but struggling with a girls name. Eve is cute. I like Isla but my OH isn't keen.

Fergus
Hamish

Ruairidh
Andrew
Scott
Innes
Blair
Finlay

Elspeth
Ishbel

Hamish, Hector, Archie, Alexander, Harris, Cameron, Cailean, Corran, Kyle, Murdo

Isla, Heather, Iona, Mirren, Agnes, Elsie, Vaila, Skye

All i can think of just now!

What about Rowan? I know girls and boys with the name x

You guys are great, thank you for all the suggestions so far. I'll check out your link too Janet, thanks! We've so many family members with Scottish names and with Ross being at nursery I can pick off at least 10 that I would avoid. Then any I like my oh gives a big crinkly nose at :) the more suggestions the better!
Belfa I know a rowan too, it's a minefield :)

my little girl is calle Evelyn but we always call her evie :)

At the moment we are keen on Erraid which is a small island off of the isle of mull and is the name of the 13yr old para swimmer who won't bronze at the commonwealth games in the pool.
Hamish is a lovely boys name and will suit as they get older too x

I like Harris but it'd be shortened to Harry and that's my bil :/ I do like erraid but oh doesn't. Lachlan is my friends son. It's so tricky, all my friends and most of the kids ds age have Scottish names!
