Shell's TTC Diary - *IVF/ICSI* - BFP!!!!

The 1st Injection

I've been so positive over the few days leading up to our start date, counting down the days and wishing saturday would hurry up! We have decided to do the injection at 10pm every night, they have to be done at the same time each day and DH should definately be back from work by then!

So at 9.50pm yesterday we got out the little kit, to remind ourselves what to do! Thats when it all went pear shaped, i was a nervous wreck and quite hysterical!! I wasn't sure if i wanted to go through with it...i was scared of the needle, the drugs being inside me, the procedures to follow, it not working. :( Everything was going through my mind and everytime DH tried to inject me, i started wriggling and crying! It was quite embarrassing!!! He was getting stressed and was starting to wonder if we could go through with this. He said while he didn't mind doing it he couldn't do it if he thought he was hurting me.

After 20 minutes we decided to call my mom to ask her to come and help.....to pin me down or something!! :D She said she would come over, but was going to order a pizza 1st!! That annoyed me, so i told DH to just get it over with before she got here! And..........IT DIDN'T HURT!!! All that worry for nothing! :wall: Hopefully the next one will be a lot easier!

Im enjoying your diary, im so glad your 1st needledidnt hurt i hate them too, ill be sure to keep reading

not at all, i watch a programme about couples who have to go through ivf, its amazing really, its on discovery i think. I love watching and hearing about peoples journeys through things like that,

Well done honey, i know how much you were dreading the injections!

One down and in a few weeks the injections will all be over.

xxxxxx

Well done you. I don't always understand all the different steps that you go through. I'm not suprised you reacted to the needle. It makes it all real then, it's the 1st step to your baby!!!

You OH sounds lovely. Did your mum enjoy her pizza ?
:rotfl: :rotfl:

Chelliboo - Thank you for your support  Although i was dreading it i really didn't expect to feel how i did, especially when i wasn't even doing the injections! It really means a lot to me to know that you keep checking in on me! It will be you soon. x

Trudyscrumptious76 - I dont always understand it all and i'm going through it!! I dont know if you want to know anything but if you do then feel free to ask anything you want...i'll do my best to answer!! My DH is lovely :D i'm very lucky to have him.
:rotfl: :rotfl: @ my mom and her pizza! I could've killed her...it had better have been good!

Day 3 of Down Regulating

Well its now day 3 and 2 injections done so far. As the 1st injection was pain free (well, eventually after all the tears etc!), i was pretty confident that the 2nd attempt would go smoothly. How wrong i was!! The same fears i had with the 1st one resurfaced although it didn't take as long as last time for me to calm down. I hope this doesn't happen everytime!! We did it on the other side of my stomach this time as i have been told that its best to alternate to prevent bruising.....and this time it hurt!!! :( I felt the needle go in, i felt it while it was in me, and i felt it come out! Horrible!!

I haven't been feeling too good also. Yesterday, i felt headachy all day. It was like the start of a headache that never changed to a full on headache. I had an awful sleep, waking up every hour or so. I still had the headache this morning (it was now a full blown migraine), which has only just gone after a few anadin. As a result of the headache, i couldn't eat anything and have been sick! :puke: How nice! I've also been suffering with dizziness for the last 2 days, and i still have it. Its like a constant dizzy feeling a bit like i'm moving when i'm not, worse if i stand up too quickly. I dont know if any of this is from the injections, i would have thought it was too soon to be experiencing any side effects just yet. I certainly hope it isn't as i cant cope with 2 weeks of this.

aww hun hope you feel better soon, maybe from the new hormones in your body making you feel a bit ill, once they get used to them im sure youll be fine

Day 10 of Down Regulating

I'm very happy to report that there have been no headaches since last week! :D I actually feel very good. So i think Littlelady87 was right, it must have been my body adjusting to the drugs rather than side effects. I think i had my 1st hot flush on Saturday! I was out with my mom for her birthday and i had to get my coat off very quickly!! I Have been having them occassionally since then but not much.

The clinic rang DH yesterday to ask if they could change my scan from this Friday to Thursday. I was fine with this until they told him that it was so i could be a test patient as they were having an audit. They needed to scan someone in front of the auditors or something!! OMG!!! How embarrassing....i want as few people as possible to see my bits!! So obviously we are keeping the scan booked for Friday!

I haven't had AF so i'm hoping so much that my lining hasn't started to thicken yet so that we can just get on with stimming.

I'll update soon,

Michelle

Glad to hear its going well honey!!

I can't believe they wanted you to have your scan early for an audit....definately the fewer people the better.

Let us know how you get on friday, will you start stimming then?

 Hi Chelliboo!

How are you?

Hopefully we will be able to start stimming after the scan. But it all depends on whether my lining is thin. If its not i'll have to have AF 1st. I have a horrible feeling that my body was about to ovulate as i had lots of EWCM but my temps show i haven't. I'm wondering if the drugs kicked in and stopped it happening. If i was about to my lining will have thickened....i hope not though as i'll be down regging for at least another week!

Hey Shell

I'm fine, now waiting for an appointment to get my cysts removed before we continue with IVF.

When in your cycle did you start DRing then? I thought you generally started after Ov'ing and before AF so that the drugs bring on AF and your lining is nice and thin?

Well fingers crossed for friday for you...I'm sure you want to start stimming asap xxxx

Yeah thats what usually happens. I started on day 21, which is normally after ovulation. But as AF is so irregular its a bit different. I was going to start any day but i had just had AF before our appointment so they decided to follow the day 21 thing! I've never ovulated as early as day 14 so they were thinking that my lining may just stay thin after last AF. If it has thickened when they scan me then i have to induce a bleed and down reg for another week.

Its confusing!!!

Good luck with the cyst removal. Any idea how long you'll have to wait for that to be done?

thats is confusing!

no idea how long till cyst removal. my consultants secretary said she'd call me this week to let me know whats got to happen next and when

1st Scan

Had my 1st internal scan today. It was to check if the injections were working and to check how thick the lining of my womb was. The nurse was pointing everything out to me on the screen but i have no idea what i was looking at! I was right....i knew it would have thickened!! So now i have to take tablets for 5 days and a few days later i should get AF. I have to go back on the 1st November for another scan to check that the lining is thin and then we'll be ready for stage 2! Egg collection has now been moved back almost 2 weeks also as a result of this. I'm a bit annoyed but there's nothing i can do about it except get on with it. It makes it very difficult with dates now for DH but nevermind.

I had to have a pregnancy test done before i was given the tablet prescription just to be sure due to the lining thickness. For a few minutes it got me thinking how great it would be if they said it was positive. Silly i know, as i knew it wouldn't but for that bit of time you get all hopefull!!

So i'm still going to be down regging for another 2 weeks. Plenty of time to experience all the horrible side effects unfortunately. I thought it was too good to be true that i hadn't had any yet! :D

Day 16 of Down Regulating

Tomorrow is the last day of the norethisterone tablets and for the last 2 days i have been having awful cramps as if AF is here. Maybe it was due and the tablets are now delaying it for a bit i dont know. But it is painful. I just know its going to be the worst AF ever!! It was horrible last time i had to take these, and i dont remember all these cramps and backache then. I keep thinking of the nurse telling me my lining was 'nice and thick' at my scan. If there's more there then there's more to come away :puke: Sorry if TMI!!

My stomach is covered in little dots and horrible bruises but i've still not had any side effects. Whats going on??!! I hope the injections are working. I'm starting to worry!

Sorry for the mad ramblings!!

x

Ahhhh honey..sorry to hear your lining was still thick on your scan. I hope the extra drugs have sorted it out.

I'm sure things are working fine. don't worry about not having had side effects..maybe your body is just really good at coping with all the hormonal changes.

When do you get re-scanned?

Hi chelliboo,

Next scan is on Wednesday....but we may need to change it to Friday.

Have you heard back from your consultant yet about your cyst being removed?

Day 21 of Down Regulating

Af is here! :cheer: I finished the tablets on tuesday, so i was expecting it to be today. I'm just hoping it isn't as bad as last time when i had to take them.

So all should be as planned now for egg collection around the 14th November. I have to go to the clinic on wednesday for another scan just to be sure that everything is switched off and that all the old lining has gone after AF.

If thats goes ok, we will then be starting the next lot of drugs. I will still have to inject Buserelin as i have for the last 3 weeks, but i will also have Menopur. So that will be 2 injections for my DH to battle with! The Menopur will stimulate the ovaries to produce lots of follicles which will hopefully contain eggs. You have to continue down regulating so that your natural hormones dont kick in and make you ovulate.

I'm still not really having any side effects. Hopefully i am one of the lucky ones who dont! I have had an awful bout of cystitis this week though. :( I've had to go to my GP and he has given me antibiotics, i'm still not completely ok yet though. I need to get rid of it by next week as i dont think i'll be able to take antibiotics then.

Update soon!
