Hello everyone!
Wow, I am sat here so touched I have a tear in my eye looking at the messages you posted regarding my scare!!
You lot are awesome you really are.
First of all I wanna say many thanks to Kaye for letting you guys know and to Lynsey and Rusks for their text messages. I appreciated it so much.
Anyway this is what happened....
OH and I got into bed about half 9 last night and decided it was time for some 'rumpy pumpy'
Half way through the deed I felt this really warm sensation down below, looked and there was red, fresh, blood all over the mattress. I tell you what I have never been so scared in my life.
I went to the loo, popped in a pad and decided to ring NHS direct. They were really good and put me straight through to the doctor at my local hozzie.
The doctor told me to come into the treatment centre out of hours clinic immediately, I was all of a fuss and a panic I shoved on some clothes, grabbed my hand bag and off we went on the 30 minute drive to the hospital.
When I got there the doctor felt my tummy and asked if I was still bleeding which I was and I was then sent up to the maternity ward.
I was put in my own room and saw a really lovely midwife. She took my blood pressure, heart rate, temperature etc all of which was fine. She then wanted to look at my pad to check the blood flow and called the doctor. I was given a fresh pad, a nice fat maternity one lol so they could monitor the bleeding.
Then came the nice bit...I had to have an internal ewwww.
The doctor said there was a clot on my cervix and removed it, it was ok nothing sinister just where the blood had congealed. She said my cervix was closed which was a mega relief and that the bleeding was stopping.
They then checked the baby's heart...it was fine, beating away lovely and it never stopped moving the whole time I was in the hozzie so that reassured me.
They decided to admit me because they needed to keep an eye on the bleeding. OH was asked to leave and I cried!!! Im such a wimp when it comes to things like that.
They knew the bleeding was not due to the placenta because they checked my scan report from last Wed and the placenta is posterior so that was also good news.
By this morning the bleeding had settled and I was moved into the maternity ward from my own room.
The consultant came round at 11 and said that as the bleeding had subsided I could go home provided I take it extremely easy for the next few weeks and that I get plenty of rest.
He did a bedside scan just to show me that baby was fine, it was all snug in my womb, jiggling about its hearting pumping away!!
The cause of the bleed really is unknown but they all said that 'post sex' bleeding isnt uncommon in pregnancy. Im afraid OH is going to have to become celibate for the rest of the pregnancy, its put me off for life!
I never felt any pain at all and felt ok so thats great but if anything else happens Im to go straight in. Its just so frightening, im still shaken from it now and Im kinda thinking what if all the time and am nervous about the future but Ive been assured all is ok. Its natural to worry when that sort of thing has happened I suppose!
Once again I wanna say thank you all for your lovely messages!!!
Il come on tomorrow to catch up on all the threads but wanted you lot to know Im home and doing ok.
