Just wondered, as I cant remember, which sanitary towels you took to hospital with you for after the birth. I have a large pack of Always nightime with wings but dont know whether they will deal with the flow or not immediately after the birth?

I seem to remember using Kotex night last time but they were like really thick and uncomfortable and as I am having a section again I want to remain reasonably comfortable down there if you know what I mean.

I took normal maternity pads, I was in need of the padding!
Also having stitches when I did change to sanitary pads I found they rubbed so went back to mat pads fast!

Not having a section I dont see why you cant use normal pads but I think the units like you to use Maternity pads for the first few days due to flow, colour etc. (I know mine did :))

Always do a thicker o with wings in a mint green pack...ive got them for bag this time, although i did use maternity pads last time, cant remember which tho...think i'll get mat. pads for first day or two, anyone used Adsa ones?

I liked tesco maternity one's the best x

I liked boots mat pads - after them I used kotex night, and yes they are thick but I had lots of stitches and was very sore and found they were really soft

I got 2 packs of asda maternity mats 2 for £2 hope they do the job need to get some other things.

I liked Wilko's maternity pads. 89p a pack :) I bought 4 packs and only use one and a half then just used Always night towels but I'd say use maternity ones the first couple of days.

I'm using tesco slim maternity pads with wings and for the night, always night time with wings.

I didn't use them in hospital though, the midwife supplied me with theirs.. Which I was greatfull for as I bled like a bitch right after lol

I have bought the Tesco mat pads, for me personally i can't imagine regular san towels would be enough.

I took Always Night time ones, the ones for the really heavy period, I bought some maternity ones from Boots as well but they were so thick and horrible - felt weird in my pants! TMI. Normal pads are sooooo much more comfortable!

I have had three sections - and I would recomeded any proper maternity towels, they are a bit thick, but if your having a section it's the length you need more than anything , so unless you can find very long ones that are not maternity then go for them, at least 1 pack to start you off , as you won't be too mobile at least for the first 24 hours, other than a shower etc, and all that sitting in a hosp bed you will need the length to go right underneath you as gravity helps you leek at the back of the towel, esp as the spinal wears off , you won't feel where your leeking if at all!

JJ Mum - the Always Super Night (dark blue with a picture of a moon on it) whatever they are, they are suuuuuper long! I need long ones too and they have been soo comfy!xx

i had stitches too and found the mothercare maternity pads were great!! But after about a week i used the always nightime ones when wasn't bleeding as much!!

I liked the mothercare ones as they have wings and stayed in place well :) x

I used Asda maternity ones and then on the second day I just started using the bodyform goodnight ones and they are made of a similar material as the maternity ones just not as big and bulky!!
