Just found out im o- and been reading up on it, as other than saying *your special* the midwife wasnt an awful lot of help :S
Ive read that the injection really hurts :( i know its one of those things youve just gotta grin and bear, but iv also read theres a ton of places to have it done ?!?!

Anyone already had theirs with this or a previous pregnancy and can say it didnt hurt ?!? Or where they had it done ?!?

Dont want to just walk in there and wallop me bum out, for her to get all embarassed and ask for my arm :rotfl: :rotfl:

(however iv read of people having it so far, in the hip, bum, thigh and arm :S )

incase this helps...
i am o-
wen i miscarried in my first pregnancy i had to have the injection, they gave it to me in my arm- now i have really skinny lacking in muscle arms and so i dont know if thats anything to do with it, but it was quite a big needle- it was uncomfortable but arent all injections??!!nothing really painful
it made me feel really dizzy and faint- but i presume this was because at that point i was bleeding quite heavily so it was just a bit much with the motional stress as well etc if that makes sense...after a few mins laying down i was ok

i think where they do it is personal preference so i wouldnt whip anything out until they tell u where :rotfl:iv heard lots of people say its nothing to worry about so i feel my experience is pruely due to what was happening to me at the time so id say not to worry about it, we need it after all...

sorry iv probably not helped ur concerns there but i thought id give u my experience of it xx

I have to have an Anti D injection because I'm rhesus negative.

I've heard different things from different people. Some say it's really painful, others say it's not so bad so it probably all depends on your pain threshold. It's a muscular injection which usually are a bit more painful!

I have to have mine the same day as a glucose tolerance test. What a fun morning that's going to be :D

hiya  im O- too and i had the injection at 29 weeks, in my arm and it didnt hurt that much, blood test on the same day was worse. and having it at the same time this time round too. Hope that helps

Helloooo

I'm rhesus neg too :( Got a blood test on the 7th July and injections on the 14th, so I'll let you know how it goes and how badly it hurts! I'm a big wuss though, so bear in mind I'm likely to tell you it hurts like hell :rotfl:

I think i just needed to hear that not EVERYONE says its hurts like hell really and plus i now have a plan....
Dont look at the needle, ask her to put it in my most non-existant muscle
and
Buy a big bar of galaxy as a reward !!

It means it goes straight into a muscle rather than just under your skin.

I think the yellow fever vaccine in intra-muscular and when I had that it wasn't so bad. Not as bad as one of the others that weren't muscular.
