Question re no smoking for IVF funding

No I don't smoke!! DF and I have been approved funding for IVF but he has to give up smoking first, and by 14th Jan. How do they test to prove he's given up?

He only smokes 5 a day at the mo, so it shouldn't be a problem (says the non smoker!) and now it's getting cold he smokes even less (as he has to go outside!) Anyway, my question: How do they test to prove he's given up?

they may test to see the amounts of carbon monoxide...its similar to one of the peak flow meter things....blow into the mouth piece etc and it gives a reading. Im not sure from how early it picks up though (i only know about it cos i work in a pharmacy with a stop smoking service and this is one of the things we do to show te customer how much the levels drop).

I have no idea - would they test?? or would they just trust you to be honest?
