Pushing for c-section

budge said:
why do you both want Csections this time round?

just curious.

28 - 32 hour labour, back to back, loads of stitches, needed a blood transfusion, paris stopped breathing, I stopped breathing

Need I say more :rotfl:

I dont think any mum would seriously think about having a c-section without good reason.

i was told that if previous labour/s had left you with fears then a c section can be asked for.
i tore very badly inside and outside with ellie, mostly as she was born too fast. as a result i didnt get to bond with her right away as the bleeding was so bad and i also didnt get any drugs just gas and air so have been left a bit fearful of labour. however im waiting to see how i feel further into the pregnancy before i decide.

My first son was born by C-Section as he was distressed and the recovery afterwards is not great!

When I got pregnant with my 2nd son I was determined to have a vaginal delivery and thankfully I did and I have to say I much prefered it. I did have problems afterwards as it was all very tight down there and I had to have an op to correct it.

This time I want another vaginal birth 100%. The midwife doesn't think there will be a repeat of what happened last time as the op made it all wider :rotfl: if you know what I mean but I will be seeing the consultant when I am 24 weeks to make sure all is well!

my sister had a natural birth in June. She had an absolutely terrible time, tore badly and had an episiotomy and forceps with only gas and air.

It took her 3 months to recover (she just got signed off for her 6 week check last week  )

The doc told her that a c-section might be a better option next time round...it only takes 6 weeks to recover. I think she will jump at the chance.

I am put of natural birth from her experience, I don't know what I can do though.

I'm sorry to hear that, but that was HER experience not yours. If you think you're influenced by others' stories, check out the new arrivals section. There's some lovely, positive birth stories there.

I think you HAVE to have a reason for an elective C-section, I', sure PP must have, she couldn;t have just opted  Wasn't she phobic or something?

Good luck to all you ladies who are after C-sections for subsequent births, it sounds like you all have some cracking reasons

I remember Eveadel fighting for an elective section with her first as she was so scared. they said yes, but in the end labour progressed so quick she had to have a natural, and she had a really good experience :D

that is quite reassuring :D
I always imagined I would ask for a ceasarian because I suffer terribly from anxiety attacks and I didn't know if I could cope. However, I am feeling a little braver, so many people do it naturally and there are good drugs. It is just a little daunting :?

when i saw those birth vids on here i felt sick with fear, and i pondered having a section too. but i decided 2 brave a natural birth (i thought it would impress my boyf, and it did! lol) and im so proud of myself now i feel like 10 men haha! mine was a gr8 experience. theres a link in my sig if u wanna read. u can do it girl!

I would think that you have very good reasons to elect for one to be honest hun, it's worth asking anyway as you don't want to risk your health or your baby's health. I think it's fairly straight forward if you've already had one to ask for one again isn't it and as you were prepped for one you almost did. A good friend of mine had a section last time and is electing for one this time as she had lots of problems during birth and she reckons that it wasn't that bad recovering from it afterwards. It took my bits a lot longer to heal than it took her tum anyway!

If you haven't had a baby and had problems though try not to panic about the tear stories etc as everyone is different. I am definitely going to try for a natural labour again as it really wasn't as scary as I thought and was actually a very positive experience for me personally even though I was more frightened than I'd ever been about anything beforehand.

Hi there,
im currently ttc my second and will have this dilema to face as with my 1st I had a 34 hour labour, got to 6cm and then had an emergency section as he was distressed, went back to back (horrendous pain!) and i stayed at 6cm for 7 hours. The section was the easy part!
Thing is im frightened about it next time as im unsure as i really struggled in the 1st few weeks, i bonded but did not cope well having to let hubby lift him up for me etc.
Recently seeing my best friend have a breeze of a 1st birth (naturally) made me envious i(n a nice way) as she could do so much, whereas i couldnt.
Will i be made to try naturally? I,d love to do it naturally but the worst case scenario would be a long labour ending in section. Id feel a failure and i dont want that. :( What would you do?
Also, i remember the surgeon saying (when he lifted my son out) that he never would have came out naturally!
Phew..rambled on a bit!x :D

My last dd was a section baby, she was distressed, her heart dropped and she passed meconium. I think they should have done the section earlier than they did, my dd inhaled meconium and was in special care for a week.

The most horrendous sight I have ever seen is my new baby laying in a incubator with tubes everywhere.

I would opt for a section again, for sure. I think a planned section can be stress free, and that has to be best for mum and baby

Good luck

I don't blame you for wanting a C section after going through that Miss JP  Hae a word with your midwife and explain what happened before, you've got nothing to lose

After wht you went through hunni i dont see why they wouldnt let you hsve a c section, if it was that bad for the first two the i wouldnt imagine what your third would be like.
Speak to your midwife, im sure she would support you x

My 1st baby got stuck for ages, and her heart rate kept dropping really low. They prepped me for a c-section, but once in the operating theatre, they gave one last try with forceps, and managed to get her out (all bruised, my poor baby!)

2nd baby, also had heart rate dropping low. Then she was born very quickly, but she was quite big, and tore me badly, i even ruptured my urethra (very painfull!!) and im worried that this baby may be even bigger (as i read babies tend to get bigger each time)

Im petrified about giving birth

You poor love sorry to hear you had a rubbish time giving birth!!
